Katie Price Defends Health After Susanna Reid's Weight Concerns on GMB
Katie Price Addresses Weight Concerns on Good Morning Britain

Katie Price has firmly asserted that she is in good health after Susanna Reid openly admitted to being "concerned for her weight" during Monday's broadcast of Good Morning Britain. The 47-year-old former glamour model appeared on the ITV morning programme to discuss her recent marriage to businessman Lee Andrews with presenters Susanna Reid, 55, and Ed Balls, 59.

Weight Discussion Takes Centre Stage

After initial questions about her new husband, the conversation shifted to Katie's physical appearance, following numerous fan expressions of worry about her noticeably slender frame. This comes after Katie revealed in January that she was seeking medical assistance in response to photographs that depicted her looking "gaunt."

Susanna Reid directly addressed the issue, stating: "Katie, can I ask, because I am concerned about your weight. You are very, very, very skinny." Katie responded positively: "Yes, and I am glad you asked this!"

Medical Investigations and Health Update

Susanna probed further: "Now, people do say, is it because you are overdoing the weight loss medication or are you a healthy weight? Have you got that established?" In her detailed reply, Katie provided a comprehensive health update to viewers and fans.

"People that follow me online will know I have lost weight," Katie explained. "I recognise I have lost weight. I look too skinny, I look gaunt. So I have been to the doctors, to see why am I losing, I have done all the blood tests, I have even done the poo one, as well, to find out."

When Susanna asked if doctors had confirmed she was okay, Katie elaborated: "I said to them, everyone said I am on Ozempic, they said, well we can tell in your bloods you're not. I am lack of iron, they are now checking the other bit. And I am going through premenopausal at the moment as well."

She concluded emphatically: "I am healthy, so nobody worry about me." Susanna affirmed: "You are healthy, and you are happy." Katie confirmed: "Yes, very happy."

Historical Context and Fan Concerns

This public discussion follows January incidents where fans urgently pleaded with Katie to seek medical help after she was photographed looking "worryingly thin" during a shopping excursion with her 18-year-old daughter, Princess Andre. At that time, on her podcast The Katie Price Show, Katie informed her sister Sophie that she was scheduling doctor appointments regarding her weight loss.

Reacting to those earlier photographs, Katie stated: "I know I look gaunt, I look like I'm ill – hence why I'm going to the doctors tomorrow. I don't know how many times I have to say to people, 'Yes I know I've lost weight,' and there's obviously a reason, I said it to the doctor. We all know that we're trying to sort it all out and as soon as I know then I'll let everyone know."

Addressing Marriage Critics

Elsewhere in the extensive Good Morning Britain interview, Katie forcefully countered what she described as "disrespectful" criticism surrounding her whirlwind marriage. Katie married Lee Andrews at the luxurious One&Only Royal Mirage hotel in Dubai during January, a decision that reportedly left family members including her mother Amy Price feeling "traumatised" and prompted fan concerns that she might not fully know her new spouse.

The media personality utilised the ITV platform to push back against these critics, insisting she was genuinely "happy" and fully capable of "making her own decisions."

Susanna initiated this portion of the conversation by acknowledging she would feel "concerned" if Katie were her friend, given the rapid nature of the marriage: "If you were a friend of mine... I think I would be concerned about you. I'm not sure you've had time to get to know the person to whom you are now married, so why the whirlwind?"

Katie's Philosophical Defense

Katie offered a philosophical rebuttal: "Do you ever really know anyone? If you look at my past marriages, did I ever know they would be what they would be? Sometimes I don't think you can ever know who anyone is... For me, I've gone through so much, so many different relationships, and I normally went from one to the other... before I've always been in toxic, coercive, controlling, mental abuse, physical abuse relationships."

She continued with conviction: "Now, I now know the signs of red flags and all of this, I am older, I can make my own decisions and there's nothing to say that you have to wait for anything. It's hard for anyone to understand. It just feels so right, I've only been in love twice before that, with Dane Bowers and Peter [Andre]. With Lee, it's so different to every other relationship, and it works for me."

Good Morning Britain continues to air weekdays from 6:00am on ITV, featuring discussions on current events and celebrity interviews.
