Keitel Celebrates Wife's Birthday with Pacino and De Niro

Hollywood legend Harvey Keitel, famed for his iconic roles in Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, made a rare public appearance with his wife, actress Daphna Kastner, on Friday evening. The couple celebrated Kastner's birthday at the exclusive Nobu Malibu restaurant, surrounded by a constellation of famous friends.

A Star-Studded Gathering

The intimate dinner party brought together some of cinema's most revered figures. Joining the celebratory table were acting giants Al Pacino, 85, and Robert De Niro, 82, alongside Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire, 50. The longtime couple, who married in 2001, were the gracious hosts of this illustrious gathering.

Fashion and Style on Display

Keitel, 86, cut a sharp figure in a sophisticated all-black ensemble comprising a sweater, blazer, and trousers, accessorised with matching sunglasses. His distinctive white-grey hair was slicked back, completing his polished look. Kastner, 65, radiated elegance in a flowing beige dress paired with a coordinating patterned coat. Her long blonde hair cascaded freely, and she complemented her outfit with lightly tinted eyewear.

Al Pacino mirrored his friend's suave style, opting for a grey satin button-up shirt beneath a single-buttoned black blazer, also sporting sunglasses with his grey hair neatly combed. Tobey Maguire presented a more casual contrast, wearing a simple black baseball cap and sweater, his face adorned with a scruffy, grizzled beard.

A Private Family Life

Keitel and Kastner are parents to one son, Roman, born in 2004. The actor also has two children from previous relationships: Stella, born in 1985 with actress Lorraine Bracco, and Hudson, born in 2001 with Lisa Karmazin. The family resides in New York City, where they maintain a notably private life away from the relentless glare of the public eye.

The Romantic Reunion Story

In a charming 2021 revelation on The Late Show, Keitel recounted the serendipitous tale of how he met Kastner over two decades ago, with Robert De Niro playing a pivotal role. Their first encounter occurred at a party for De Niro in Rome during the 1980s.

"I met my wife in Rome at a party for Robert," Keitel shared. "She allowed me to take her to dinner at the Dal Bolognese Roma. Then I called her back again a second night. She came and we had dinner together a second night."

With a laugh, he added, "And then I asked her if she would like a drink in my hotel room – and she said, 'No, thank you.' And I spent a lot of money on her. It was a good restaurant."

Remarkably, they did not see each other again for seventeen years, until fate intervened at another party hosted by De Niro. "And there was this girl who I bought two dinners at the Dal Bolognese 17 years ago and it was my wife, Daphna. And we stayed together," he recalled.

The romance quickly blossomed. "Seven weeks later, I was going to a film festival in Italy and I asked her to come with me. She said 'yes.' And on the flight, I said, 'What do you think about getting married?' She gave a great answer: she said, 'OK.'"

Keitel concluded the heartwarming anecdote with a delightful coincidence: "The topper was, we get pregnant about a year later, and our son is born on Robert De Niro's birthday." This full-circle moment underscores the enduring friendships and unexpected connections that define Hollywood's most enduring relationships.
