Kylie Jenner has opened up about her experience with drug use as she recalled a 'crazy' time she took magic mushrooms in a public setting. The make-up mogul, 28, appeared on her friends' podcast, Better Half with Stas & Vic, where they filmed while getting ready for Coachella weekend one.
Kylie teased that she had some 'Coachella tea' and revealed that someone had asked if she wanted to take 'shrooms' that night at the festival. Magic mushrooms, or 'shrooms', are fungi containing the psychoactive compounds psilocybin and psilocin, which produce hallucinogenic effects.
Kylie revealed that she was unsure about taking them at Coachella because of a previous bad experience which resulted in her 'crying her make-up off'. She told the rest of the group: 'Someone asked me if I want to take shrooms tonight and I thought I just don't know if I want to be shrooming. In public. Or maybe I'll get really emotional and start crying, why do I want to cry tonight?'
'I tried that once doing shrooms in a public place when I went to Stass' event, it was a party and I took shrooms and I couldn't stop crying. I was crying because someone came to ask me a question and I thought it was really funny and I couldn't stop laughing. I cried off all my make-up. I went to the bathroom and I looked like the most crazy version of myself. I had to go home.'
Commenting on Kylie's admission, one fan said that the mother of two talking about magic mushroom was 'not on their 2026 bingo card'. They added: 'This is the realest clip I've seen of her where she seems to be genuinely herself. Please have her on a full ep. Living for her podcast era'.
Kylie was recently the inaugural guest on Kid Cudi's new podcast, Big Bro with Kid Cudi, released on April 1, 2026. Reflecting on her experience, Kylie joked she has 'never smoked more weed'. Vic said: 'You were high for that podcast'. However Kylie insisted: 'I wasn't high for the podcast!'. While Vic doubled down, adding: 'You weren't? Your eyes looked glossy.' Kylie concluded: 'You heard it here first... I was not high for the podcast.'
During the last series of The Kardashians, Kylie's sister Kendall, 30, revealed similar moments in her teenage years that cameras didn't capture. She confessed to smoking marijuana with her sister Kylie Jenner at their home, as well as details about losing her virginity. The revelation was made as Kendall returned to the mansion where earlier seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians were filmed - which mom Kris Jenner was in the process of selling.
'I lost my virginity in that room,' she said of her old bedroom. 'Stop it, where was I?' Kris asked. 'I actually didn't, I didn't, I didn't,' Kendall reassured her mother. 'It was at his house,' she said before telling her mother, 'You guys didn't care.' 'Didn't care!?' Kris, 70, replied. In a confessional, an amused Kendall recalled: 'Not only did she not know, she really didn't give a f**k. She was like, "Oh you are going out until Wednesday? Great. Never come back."'
One area of the home of particular sentimental value for Kendall was the cabana, where she smoked 'a lot of weed' as a teenager. 'I'm going to the cabana to say goodbye,' she told her mom over a dinner Kris hosted saying goodbye to the house. 'I used to smoke a lot of weed in there when you weren't looking.' 'Wow. You did? How old were you?' Kris asks. Kendall stunned her mother by revealing she smoked weed at their home as a teenager. 'Like 16. Kylie was 14,' Kendall said. 'Am I just as blind as a bat that I didn't pick up on that?' Kris asked. 'We would shut those curtains and we were like, "Oh this is so much more obvious,"' Kendall said. 'Mom you didn't have a clue what happened half the time with your kids,' Khloe Kardashian teased. 'You'd be like, "you're doing drugs? That's fine, because I'm a cool mom!"'
Recreational use of marijuana was legalized in the state of California in 2016 and users must be 21 or older to purchase or use cannabis, according to SF Travel. Kendall, however, turned 16 in 2011.
