Laura Woods' Cringe Moment: Accidental Kiss with Darts 'Bronzed Adonis'
Laura Woods' awkward kiss with darts legend Steve Beaton

Sports presenter Laura Woods has opened up about one of her most cringe-worthy on-air moments, confessing to an accidental kiss with a legendary darts star that left her utterly mortified.

The Awkward On-Air Encounter

During an appearance on the Happy Hour podcast, the prominent broadcaster recounted the incident involving Steve Beaton, the former BDO world champion famed for his looks and nicknamed the 'Bronzed Adonis'. The blunder happened after Woods, then presenting for Sky Sports, had finished interviewing the darts heart-throb.

"I went, 'Thank you so much' and I went to shake his hand, he went for a cuddle," Woods explained. "Because he'd gone for a cuddle, I like put my arms around him and almost went for a kiss on the cheek."

The situation quickly escalated into an embarrassing mix-up. Beaton, 61, misread her intention and turned his head, resulting in the pair sharing an unplanned peck on the lips. Woods, now 38, was left red-faced and horrified by the innocent mistake.

'I Felt Like I'd Poisoned the Holy Grail'

Reflecting on the moment, Woods described her immediate sense of regret. "I was like, 'Oh my God, what have I done?'" she said. "He was like the holy grail and I'd poisoned it."

She retreated to the production truck, where colleagues asked if she was alright. "I had my head in my hands and was like, 'I just kissed the Bronzed Adonis on the mouth and I felt his beard'," Woods recalled. "I felt like I'd done the worst thing in the world but now I revel in that."

She also joked about Beaton's reputation, noting: "He is a beautiful man and he spent his whole career being an absolute heart-throb in the world of darts, which doesn't sound difficult, does it?"

Life and Career Since the Sky Sports Days

Laura Woods departed Sky Sports in 2022 and joined TNT Sports a year later as chief presenter for their boxing and UEFA Champions League coverage. Prior to that, she was a familiar voice on the talkSPORT breakfast show until her exit in the summer of 2023.

On a personal note, 2025 has been a significant year for Woods, as she welcomed a baby boy named Leo with her fiancé, reality TV star Adam Collard. The previous year was marked by tragedy when she suffered a pregnancy loss at 11 weeks.

Collard, a two-time Love Island participant, spoke about the heartbreak on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, revealing he initially blamed himself, feeling it was "bad karma" for his past behaviour on dating shows.

As for Steve Beaton, the darts legend referenced in Woods' story, his illustrious career recently came to a close after he failed to qualify for the 2025 PDC World Darts Championship.
