Millie Bobby Brown Shares Touching Birthday Moment with Adopted Daughter

Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown celebrated her 22nd birthday over the weekend by posting an adorable photograph with her baby daughter on Instagram. The heartwarming image captured the pair watching a sunset on the beach, with Millie looking cosy in a knitted jumper and her daughter dressed in a warm all-in-one outfit.

Expressing Gratitude for Family Life

In the caption accompanying the photograph, Brown expressed profound gratitude for her family, writing: '22. grateful for my husband and daughter. for my family and friends. all of my animals. I am so blessed. thank you for the birthday wishes. xoxo.' The actress specifically mentioned feeling 'so grateful' for her husband Jake Bongiovi, who is the 23-year-old son of rock legend Jon Bon Jovi.

Adoption Announcement and Privacy Commitment

The couple welcomed their daughter through adoption during the summer of 2025, with Brown officially announcing the news on her main Instagram page in August of last year. Despite becoming increasingly open about her roles as wife and mother, the actress remains fiercely protective of her daughter's privacy.

During an interview with British Vogue for their December issue, Brown emphasized her commitment to shielding her child's identity until she is old enough to make her own decisions. 'For me, it's really important to protect her and her story until she's old enough to potentially one day share it herself,' she explained. 'It's our job to protect her from that.'

Name Change and Family Aspirations

Brown recently confirmed she has officially taken her husband's last name, becoming Millie Bonnie Bongiovi. The name change was playfully revealed during an interview with her Stranger Things co-star Noah Schnapp, who stumbled over her new moniker before she corrected him with a broad smile.

The young couple, who both come from families of four siblings, have openly discussed their desire for a large family. 'I really want a big family,' Brown shared with Vogue, noting that parenting responsibilities are equally divided. 'We are 50-50 on everything… he is just the most amazing dad.'

Journey to Parenthood Through Adoption

Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi married in May 2024 after years of openly discussing their aspirations to become parents, with adoption forming a natural part of their family-building plans. Their official adoption announcement in August declared: 'This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption. We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.'

During an appearance on the Smartless podcast hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, Brown reflected on her long-standing desire for motherhood. 'My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19. And you know, it's been my thing since before I met Jake,' she explained. 'Since I was a baby... I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me.'

The actress continued: 'Jake knows how important it is to me and, of course, I want to focus on really establishing myself as an actor and as a producer, but I also find it's so important to start a family for me personally.' She added that she sees no distinction between having biological children and adopting, stating: 'My home is full of love for anyone and anything, and so that is what we kind of stand by, Jake and I, our energy in the house is 'the door is always open', and we want everyone to feel really comfortable.'
