Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman ushered in the New Year with a serene and stunning beach day on the idyllic shores of St. Barts. The 44-year-old star, now a single mother of two, presented a picture of relaxed elegance as she enjoyed the ocean waves.
A Tranquil Start to the Year
Portman was photographed soaking in the Caribbean sea, her light brown hair drenched and her face free of makeup. She showcased her slim figure in a sleek, plunging black one-piece swimsuit, accessorised with a simple red manicure. Notably absent from the holiday scene were her two children with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied: son Aleph, 14, and daughter Amalia, eight.
This peaceful getaway follows a significant personal milestone for the actress. Portman finalised her divorce from French dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied in February 2024, after 11 years of marriage. The split was initiated by Portman when she filed for divorce in July 2023, a decision that came in the wake of reports alleging Millepied's infidelity.
Moving On After the Split
Reports surfaced that Millepied had allegedly cheated on Portman with a woman 21 years his junior, identified in 2023 by French outlet Voici as climate activist Camille Étienne, then 25. Further sightings in October 2024 appeared to show Millepied kissing another woman in Paris.
According to sources close to the situation, Portman was "not surprised" by her ex-husband's swift return to the dating scene. "Natalie isn't surprised that Benjamin has moved on because of how their relationship ended," a source revealed, adding, "She thought he'd move on pretty quickly." The same insider indicated that Portman wished her ex happiness and that his dating life had little impact on her, stating, "She's super happy in her life right now and has been prioritising family and friends."
Embracing Life in Paris
Now firmly settled in Paris, where she relocated nearly a decade ago, Portman has embraced the nuances of French culture. In a May 2025 interview, she reflected on the cultural differences between Europe and the US, challenging the assumption that Western cultures are homogenised by global pop culture.
"It's extremely specific here, and the culture is very different in both deep and surface ways," Portman mused. She gave an example of the formal etiquette observed by children in Paris, who politely greet her with "Bonjour Madame" and a 'bise' (cheek kiss), and make a point of thanking her before leaving. "Now, when I go back to the U.S., I'm like, Oh, I would go into a store and not say hello to everyone there? It's weird," she admitted.
Her New Year's retreat to St. Barts, marked by simplicity and natural beauty, symbolises a new chapter for the star—one centred on personal contentment, her children, and the distinctive lifestyle she has cultivated in her adopted home of Paris.
