Olly Murs Takes Year-Long Touring Break to Focus on Fatherhood and Family Life
Olly Murs Pauses Touring for Year to Prioritise Family

British singer Olly Murs has made a heartfelt announcement, revealing he will take a significant step back from touring and live performances for an entire year. The 41-year-old artist is prioritising what he describes as "being a present father and husband," choosing to focus on his young family over his music career temporarily.

A Deliberate Pause for Parenthood

In a candid interview with The Mirror, Murs opened up about his decision, explaining that becoming a father has profoundly shifted his perspective. "When you become a dad yourself, it really puts things into perspective," he shared. "It's a lovely year of me working on side projects and on smaller things, not worrying about music or touring."

The singer emphasised that this period is dedicated to family life, stating, "This year is just (about) being a present father, present husband, and being there for my wife and kids, just enjoying a break." He added a humorous note about the realities of parenting, joking, "So it's looking like restless nights. It's being shouted at every day by Madi, 'I want more food!'"

Balancing Career and Family Commitments

Olly Murs has found it challenging to juggle his professional obligations with his responsibilities at home. Speaking on Heart Breakfast in December, he admitted to his wife, Amelia Tank, that the recent months have been particularly tough. "The last few weeks I've said to Amelia, 'It's been really tough,'" he revealed.

This struggle comes amid a busy period for the artist, who recently returned to music with his new album Knees Up and has been actively promoting it. He explained, "Because my album came out last week so I've been promoting that, then obviously this, and now I've got a Christmas song coming."

However, Murs has made a firm promise to his family, telling Amelia, "I promise you darling it is going to be a bit more quieter next year and I'm going to be around a lot more and then you're gonna hate me even more."

Family Life and Supportive Partnership

Olly Murs and his wife, personal trainer Amelia Tank, 34, have built a loving family together. The couple, who married happily in 2023, are parents to two young children: 19-month-old daughter Madison and son Albert, born in September 2025.

The singer has publicly expressed his admiration and gratitude for Amelia, particularly following the birth of their son. Last year, he praised her as she celebrated her postpartum body in an Instagram post, where she cradled Albert while showcasing her physique. In the comments, Murs wrote affectionately, "Two beautiful kids, one unbelievable, incredible wife x I'm a lucky lucky man xx."

Amelia, a bodybuilder, shared her own message of self-appreciation, thanking her body and stating she was "forever grateful" and "proud of this version" of herself.

Embracing a New Chapter

This decision marks a significant shift for the Troublemaker hitmaker, who has enjoyed a successful music career spanning over a decade. By taking this hiatus, Murs is proudly embracing fatherhood and consciously easing off his work commitments to dedicate more time to his dad duties.

While he plans to work on smaller projects and side ventures during this year, the focus remains squarely on family. This break reflects a growing trend among celebrities seeking better work-life balance, especially after welcoming children.

Fans of Olly Murs may miss his energetic performances and new music temporarily, but many are likely to support his choice to prioritise family during this precious time with his young children.
