Penny Lancaster, the Loose Women star, has revealed the deliberate clothing choices she made on her first date with husband Rod Stewart to ensure he didn't think she was 'easy'. The couple, who met in 1998 when Penny was 27, have been married for 19 years and share two children.
First Date Strategy
During Thursday's episode of Loose Women, Penny explained that she wanted to build a slow-burn relationship. She said: 'I didn't want to give Rod any wrong impression. I thought, look, we're here, a slow burn relationship, I'm not just going to jump into bed with you like that.'
She wore a brown roll-neck jumper up to her chin and brown trousers, which Rod later joked gave 'no impression of I'm free, I'm available, and I'm up for anything'. Penny admitted this was intentional, adding: 'Absolutely! I wanted him to respect me.'
Sleepwear Choices
Penny even applied the same caution to their first night together, wearing 'proper pyjamas all buttoned up like, you're not getting in there yet!'
Relationship Dynamics
Elsewhere on the show, Penny discussed a habit that annoys Rod: finishing his sentences. She said: 'I end up finishing his sentences. I think it just shows, my excuse for that or my reasoning behind that one is because we are so intertwined.'
She continued: 'We know what each other are thinking, we consider one another all the time. I'm always compromising and always trying to make peace with everyone and fit all the puzzle pieces together that I just know then end of every story. Sometimes, I just can't help myself! Maybe it's a control thing? I don't know.'
Loose Women continues weekdays on ITV from 12:30pm.
