Priscilla Presley Reveals Intimate Movie Nights with Elvis at Graceland

Priscilla Presley has opened up about the tender beginnings of her relationship with the late music icon Elvis Presley, disclosing that they would watch films 'every night' at his famed Tennessee estate, Graceland. This nostalgic revelation offers a glimpse into their private world during the early stages of their courtship.

A Young Romance Begins in Germany

Elvis first encountered Priscilla at a party in West Germany in 1959, while he was stationed there as part of his U.S. Army service. At the time, he was 24 years old, and she was just 14. Their connection persisted until his departure from Germany, and he rekindled the relationship three years later by flying her to Los Angeles and taking her to Las Vegas.

Throughout the years, Priscilla has consistently maintained that she and Elvis did not engage in a sexual relationship until after their marriage in Las Vegas in 1967, which occurred three weeks before her 22nd birthday.

Nightly Film Screenings and School Tardiness

In a recent interview with People magazine, Priscilla, now 80, elaborated on their dating routine, noting that they spent their evenings together watching 'a lot of movies.' She humorously recalled, 'I was always late for school, I'm sure,' after staying up late with the Hound Dog singer.

At the 2026 Old Bags Luncheon held this Wednesday at The Breakers in Palm Beach, she shared more details: 'We would have dinner about 10pm every night, and sometimes we'd see one, two, three, four movies all night.' The couple had a unique arrangement where the movie theater would call them to take requests for specific titles, allowing them to view films 'first' before the general public.

Challenges and Infidelities in Their Relationship

Despite the romantic movie nights, their relationship faced significant turmoil. While involved with Priscilla, Elvis had an affair with his Viva Las Vegas co-star Ann-Margret, a prominent pinup of the 1960s. Upon discovering his infidelity, Priscilla described in her memoir Elvis and Me that she 'picked up a flower vase and threw it across a room.'

Nevertheless, they persevered and married in an intimate ceremony at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas on May 1, 1967. Nine months later, Priscilla gave birth to their only child, daughter Lisa Marie Presley, who tragically died in 2023 at age 54 due to complications from a prior weight-loss surgery. It was Priscilla who made the difficult decision to remove her daughter from life support after Lisa Marie suffered cardiac arrest at her Calabasas home.

Marital Struggles and Later Life

The marriage was fraught with difficulties. Priscilla once confessed to Hello! magazine that she 'never wanted to leave town or even visit my parents as I didn’t want to give him that chance, thinking that someone would come and take my place.' She herself had an affair with a karate teacher during their union, and they separated in 1972, finalizing their divorce the following year.

Elvis, known for his struggles with drug use, was found unconscious on a bathroom floor in Memphis and declared dead from cardiac arrest in 1977. In the aftermath, Priscilla successfully managed his legacy, transforming Graceland into a popular tourist attraction for fans.

Post-Elvis Relationships and Family

Although Priscilla never remarried, she dated high-profile lawyer Robert Kardashian between her divorce from Elvis and the singer's death. According to biographer Jerry Oppenheimer, Kardashian proposed marriage, but Priscilla allegedly declined, unwilling to take another husband while Elvis was alive. Kardashian later married flight attendant Kris Houghton, now known as Kris Jenner.

After Elvis's passing, Priscilla had a long-term relationship with aspiring movie mogul Marco Garibaldi, with whom she shares her 38-year-old son, Navarone Garibaldi. Reflecting on her daughter's death, Priscilla has remarked that Lisa Marie 'didn't want to be here anymore' following the suicide of her 27-year-old son, Benjamin, in 2020.
