Paulie Connell, the fiancé of Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member Dolores Catania, has publicly revealed his recent cosmetic surgery, demonstrating that the desire for aesthetic enhancement extends beyond the women featured on Bravo's popular reality television series.
Connell's Surgical Journey
In a candid Instagram post shared on March 7, Connell disclosed that he underwent a lower blepharoplasty procedure. This surgical intervention specifically targets the removal of excess skin from the lower eyelids. Connell explained that the sagging around his eyes became noticeably apparent following a substantial weight loss transformation he achieved last year.
'Last year during my weight-loss journey, after dropping a significant amount of weight, as you would, I started to notice some extra skin around my eyes,' Connell stated. 'It’s one of those things that can happen when your body changes.'
Minimally Invasive Procedure
The surgery was performed by New Jersey-based surgeon Dr. Mark Karolak. Connell described it as a 'small skin pinch procedure,' characterising it as minimally invasive yet profoundly impactful for his personal confidence and self-image. He shared the results with his followers, framing it as part of his broader health and wellness journey.
'Just sharing part of the journey. Improving your health and yourself sometimes comes with small adjustments along the way - and that’s okay. Progress is progress and self care is what makes you as a person happy,' Connell concluded in his social media revelation.
A Season of Celebrations
This personal disclosure arrives shortly after his fiancée, Dolores Catania, 55, expressed her elation over their engagement. Connell proposed on November 10 of last year at the Apple Store in Woodcliff, New Jersey—the very location where the couple first met nearly five years ago while waiting in line for phone repairs. The proposal featured a spectacular 15-carat diamond ring with an 11-carat centre stone.
Remarkably, Catania finds herself planning her wedding concurrently with both of her adult children. Her son, Frankie, 27, proposed to Nicole Perricho, 30, at St Patrick's Cathedral in New York City in February 2025. Her daughter, Gabrielle, 30, accepted a proposal from her partner, Mike Tallia, 31, on a snow-covered mountain in Aspen, Colorado, just in March of this year.
Triple Wedding Planning
The family now has triple the reason to celebrate, with three separate weddings in the planning stages.
- Frankie and Nicole: Their wedding is scheduled for August 1 in Portugal, with a vow renewal and larger celebration planned for October 30 at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, for relatives unable to travel overseas.
- Gabrielle and Mike: While wedding plans are still in the earliest phases, Gabrielle intends to shop for her dress at White House Bride in Edgewater, New Jersey, when the time is right.
- Dolores and Paulie: Catania has shared her vision for a 'dream wedding,' imagining a grand, informal New Year's Eve party filled with celebration, and hopes to have all her Real Housewives co-stars in attendance.
'It's not the natural order to be engaged at the same time as your kids, however, it's a very happy household,' Catania told People magazine, reflecting on the unique family situation.
Maternal Advice and Family Bonds
Amidst the wedding preparations, Catania is offering crucial marital advice to her children. She emphasised the importance of partnership during difficult times and the blending of families.
'The biggest advice I told them was, "In the hardest of times, can you picture this person standing by you?"' she recalled. 'I also told them both, "I’ll never let you fall on your face. Just because you're getting married, doesn't mean I'm not your mother. Now I have four kids."'
She added a significant note about family integration: 'I told them, "You also marry the family," and both of their families are everything I could have prayed for. They are wonderful.'
Catania and Connell began their relationship in 2021, and fans have grown familiar with him through his appearances alongside her on the Bravo series. Notably, Catania has maintained a close, amicable relationship with her ex-husband, Frank Catania, since their divorce in 1998, successfully co-parenting their children over the decades.
