The lavish wedding of Olympic champion Adam Peaty and television personality Holly Ramsay was a star-studded affair, but guests quickly discovered that fame was no excuse for bypassing the couple's stringent rules. Amid the celebrations, a strict security protocol, including mandatory wristbands and a ban on photography, left some attendees drawing unexpected comparisons.
Security and Wristbands: A "Hospital Appointment" Vibe
In a move that surprised some invitees, attendees at the ceremony held at the historic Bath Abbey on Saturday, 27th December were required to wear distinctive wristbands. The accessories, embossed with the gold initials 'H&A', were part of a tight security measure to control access. One guest, speaking to The Sun, remarked that the experience "felt more like a hospital appointment" than a wedding celebration.
Despite the mixed reactions, other guests embraced the sentiment. Sports presenter John Reynolds shared a close-up of the festive green wristband on social media, captioning it "@adam_peaty and @hollyramsay 4 EVA" alongside a heart emoji. The no-photo policy for the service itself was strictly enforced by security personnel stationed at the abbey.
Chaotic Scenes and a Full-Day Abbey Hire
The security measures were put to the test even before the ceremony began. The arrival of the bride, 25-year-old Holly Ramsay, with her father Gordon, descended into chaos as paparazzi photographers mobbed them. While most media were in a designated area, some reportedly rushed from a back door, leading to a skirmish with bodyguards in a confined passageway beside the abbey.
A source told Hello! Magazine that Gordon and Holly, in her wedding dress, were "jostled around" just as she entered the church. Security quickly formed a protective cordon and escorted them safely inside for the 90-minute service.
The couple's decision to book the entire abbey for the full day, at a cost believed to be substantially more than the standard £2,500 fee, allowed them to close the landmark to tourists and other services. A note on the door stated visiting would resume on Sunday 28th December. This exclusive hire did not sit well with all locals, with one source criticising it as "rather selfish" for a ceremony lasting roughly an hour and a half.
Celebration Continues Amid Family Feud
Following the ceremony, the celebrations moved to Kin House in Wiltshire for a banquet and evening festivities. The joyous occasion provided a bright spot for 31-year-old Adam Peaty, whose family has been embroiled in a very public feud. Despite the ongoing drama, the newlyweds were all smiles as they embarked on their married life, even if their meticulous planning left some guests slightly baffled by the formalities.
