The entertainment and animal welfare communities are in mourning following the death of Sarah Fisher, the long-term partner of actor Anthony Head, best known for roles in Ted Lasso and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
A Sudden and Profound Loss
Sarah Fisher passed away at the age of 61. She lived near Bath with Anthony Head, 71. The sad news was shared by her two daughters, Emily and Daisy, who posted a heartfelt tribute to their mother online.
They described their mother as 'extraordinary, kind and talented' and said her death was 'immensely shocking to us all, and came with very little warning'.
In their emotional statement, they added: 'No words could ever express all that she encompassed, or begin to describe the crater her absence has left. We know how profoundly she has impacted the lives of so many, and we couldn't be more proud of the legacy she is leaving behind.'
The daughters expressed deep sorrow that she did not have more time to share her knowledge, concluding: 'Our grief knows no bounds, nor did the reaches of her incredibly unique and irreplaceable spirit.' No further details regarding the cause of death were disclosed.
A Legacy of Animal Welfare Advocacy
Sarah Fisher was a dedicated animal rights campaigner who worked extensively with Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London. The charity paid its own tribute to her on Thursday.
In a formal statement, Battersea said: 'We're truly sorry to lose our beloved friend and Ambassador Sarah Fisher and send our deepest sympathies to Sarah's partner Anthony, her daughters, and her family and friends.'
The charity highlighted her significant contributions: 'Sarah, alongside her partner Anthony Head, gave so much to our charity, fostering dogs, using her canine behaviour expertise to train our staff and volunteers, and contributing in so many ways to make a real difference in animal welfare. She will be dearly missed by all of us at Battersea.'
Anthony Head's Career and Partnership
Anthony Head, a performer renowned in musical theatre, first rose to fame across the UK in the 1980s as the star of the iconic Gold Blend coffee television advertisements for Nescafé. This launched a successful career leading to major roles in television series including Little Britain, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and more recently, the globally popular Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso.
Head and Fisher were seen together publicly at various events, including a fundraising occasion in 2015. Their shared passion for animal welfare was a consistent and public part of their life together.
The couple's dedication to charity work, particularly with Battersea, leaves a lasting testament to Fisher's compassionate spirit, which is now being widely celebrated and mourned in equal measure.
