Thai authorities have made an arrest following the brutal killing of popular TikTok personality Ko Tin Zaw Htwe, whose body was discovered in woodland in the Mae Sot district. The 25-year-old influencer, known for his vibrant lifestyle and dance content, was found with severe trauma consistent with a beating from a hard object.
Discovery and Investigation Details
On January 20, police officers responding to a report from a local resident found Ko Tin Zaw Htwe face-down in a forest area of Mae Sot. According to official statements reported by Thai media, the victim was dressed in a yellow shirt beneath a black jacket, with his black trousers pulled down and belt unfastened.
At the crime scene, investigators recovered several items including an empty alcohol bottle, a bag, a bank book, and a condom. Notably, a bloodstained wooden stick was found nearby, which police believe was the weapon used in the fatal attack. The victim's gold jewellery and mobile phone were reported missing from the scene.
Suspect Detained as Tributes Pour In
Police Colonel Rang Dawadung, Superintendent of Mae Sot Police Station, confirmed to Thai media that a suspect has been detained in connection with the killing, though the individual's identity remains undisclosed as enquiries continue.
Friends of the TikTok star revealed he had failed to return home on January 18 after reportedly receiving a call via social media from someone asking for help. This information has become part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Following the devastating news, numerous friends gathered at Luang Temple to honour Ko's memory, while his family made arrangements for his cremation at Luang Mae Sot Cemetery.

Prior to his tragic death, Ko Tin Zaw Htwe had built a substantial following on TikTok, amassing over 947,000 followers who enjoyed his lifestyle content, dance videos, and posts featuring his romantic partner. As an LGBTQ+ influencer, he had developed a significant platform and community.
Beneath his most recent upload, countless supporters have flooded the comments section with emotional tributes while demanding justice for his killing. One mourner expressed, "RIP.
