Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci have been immortalised with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame during a heartfelt double ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday. The Devil Wears Prada co-stars, who are also siblings-in-law, were celebrated alongside their famous spouses.
A Star-Studded Affair
Stanley Tucci, 65, looked dapper as he beamed for the occasion, celebrating with his wife Felicity Blunt, 45. Her sister Emily, 43, radiated elegance in a sheer white frock, while her husband John Krasinski watched proudly as her star was revealed. Photographs captured the pair posing together with their partners after the unveiling, with one image showing them lying beside the plaque, holding each other and smiling widely.
Also in attendance was Meryl Streep, who watched proudly as they became the 2,841st and 2,842nd stars on the iconic walk. Other A-listers spotted included Dwayne Johnson, Robert Downey Jr., and Matt Damon.
Career Highlights
Stanley Tucci's big break came in 1996 with the film Big Night, which he co-wrote, co-directed, and starred in as Secondo Pilaggi. Meanwhile, Emily Blunt rose to prominence in the original 2006 Devil Wears Prada movie.
During the ceremony, Meryl Streep delivered a heartfelt and humorous speech. She told Emily, 'God. Emily, I feel like I birthed you, really. I'm so proud of you... I can't wait to work with you again.' Of Stanley, she said, 'You can't even call Stanley a national treasure anymore... the affection hurled at him globally, he's just marinating in it. And it's impossible not to love Stanley Tucci. Urbane, sly, funny, bitchy. And generous and curious and so elegant.'
The Devil Wears Prada Sequel
Anne Hathaway, Emily, Meryl, and Stanley have reprised their roles in director David Frankel's much-anticipated sequel to the 2006 satire about the fashion industry. Meryl previously claimed that Anne urged producers to be 'size-inclusive' in hiring background artists, instead of relying on extremely thin women to play models. Discussing the furore on Tuesday, Anne, 43, said the incident had been blown out of proportion and insisted that no one lost their jobs. 'It was just this kind of quick thing that happened on set and now it's become a much bigger story,' she told Good Morning America. 'Nobody lost their jobs, in fact, it created more jobs.'
The new film releases on May 1 in the United States and United Kingdom. Anne revealed a specific scene she's forbidden from discussing, adding, 'There's a song that Lady Gaga wrote and it's a beautiful, amazing song. Isn't it better when you see so many different types of bodies up there with that?'
Emily's Career Advice Controversy
Earlier this week, Emily faced backlash for 'out of touch' career advice after telling people unhappy in their jobs to quit. The star, worth a reported $80 million, grew up in an upper-middle-class family and attended prestigious private school Hurtwood House in Surrey, which costs £22,400 per term for boarders. During an interview with Betches, she was asked about advice for 'women who are hating their jobs right now'. She initially murmured 'Quit... no,' before adding, 'Just find something that you deeply want to do. Even if you're earning no money, as long as you love it, you'll be happy.' Many criticised the advice as coming from a place of privilege.
