The BBC daytime programme Morning Live has been taken off air for a six-week summer break, leaving fans disappointed. The show, which launched in 2020 as a competitor to ITV Daytime, aired its last episode on Friday before the hiatus.
Host Gethin Jones announced the break at the end of the broadcast, telling viewers: 'Morning Live will be taking a break for a few weeks. We will be back on Monday 1 September at 9:30am.' He also thanked the audience for their support and participation.
Jones later took to social media to express gratitude, writing on X: 'We’ll be back soon! I’ve said it a lot, but it’s quite incredible how many of you not only watch @bbcmorninglive, but also get involved with the show. Sharing your stories to help others.'
Fans reacted with dismay, with one commenting: 'Aww!! You’re not allowed to be away for 6 weeks! definitely one of my favourite programmes.' Another wrote: 'Will miss you all - have a great break and see you in September!' Some described the show as their 'morning fix' and expressed sadness at its absence.
Morning Live normally airs weekdays from 9:30am to 10:45am during term time. It moved from London to Manchester in 2022 and features advice segments and celebrity guests. The first episode attracted nearly 1.5 million viewers.
