Married At First Sight Australia fans witnessed yet another dramatic twist just days before the season finale, as one couple crumbled at the final hurdle with a wedding ring dramatically tossed aside.
Final Challenge Sparks Chaos
The highly-anticipated finale of the reality series is nearly upon us, but not before one last bombshell twist. It follows what viewers described as a 'brutal' challenge that put the remaining couples through their paces one final time. More than a dozen strangers walked down the aisle together upon their very first meeting, with varying degrees of success throughout the experiment. British viewers have been glued to their screens over recent weeks as the drama has unfolded, with the conclusion set to air this week. Shockingly, one couple even called it quits just days before the experiment wrapped up.
On Tuesday, 5th May, the couples were blindsided by an unexpected twist. The men and women were separated and sent off on lunch dates with what the relationship experts claimed were their ideal alternative matches, reports OK!. Not everybody was keen to play ball, with David and Scott retreating to the loos to sit it out for a while. Filip made a valiant effort to be courteous but also made an early exit. Danny, Gia, Bec and Alissa, however, appeared to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Steven stuck around for the entire lunch but reassured Rachel that he felt completely secure in their relationship.
Alissa and David's Confrontation
In the aftermath, each participant was handed a tablet to watch exactly what had unfolded during their partner's lunch date. Alissa brands her husband 'ridiculous' for refusing to participate in the task, while David is left fuming over his wife's 'networking' antics. During their debrief, he pointedly asks the camera whether it would have been acceptable had he requested his date pull down her trousers to reveal a tattoo for 'banter'. David then discovers that Alissa had accepted a friend request on social media from her alternative match. She defiantly tells him: "I'll own it. That's just how I was feeling. I did nothing wrong. I'm proud of myself." She further accuses him of blindsiding her and throwing her under the bus by voicing his feelings.
David storms off. "I'm done. I deserve better. I'm not going to final vows." Not to be outdone, Alissa hurls her wedding ring to the floor before also making her exit, ripping off her microphone as she heads down the apartment stairs.
Gia's Escape Leaves Scott Devastated
Elsewhere, ahead of the tablets being delivered to Gia and Scott, Gia is plotting yet another getaway. With bags packed and ready to bolt, Scott is determined to see things through to the bitter end. A planned final date culminates in Gia fleeing in a taxi. Later, Scott watches the footage from the final task and is visibly devastated. He tells the camera: "That is disgusting. That is actually embarrassing. She wanted to leave because she was scared for me to see what she actually just did. The truth always comes out in the end. This is Gia. This has been Gia the whole time. I was about to give my whole life to her. I'm done." Through tears, Scott repeatedly utters "I'm done" and claims Gia exploited him financially.
Viewer Reactions
Viewers didn't waste any time sharing their thoughts on the unfolding drama. One social media user wrote: "Good riddance Gia! Scott's the winner in this relationship!" A second chimed in: "Alissa is squirming and trying to justify her blatant flirting. What a rotten person." Meanwhile, another viewer commented: "Of course Gia is running away because she knows what will be shown, she's an absolute coward." One observer noted: "Aww. Even when he's heartbroken, Scott still takes the time to hold the door open for the cameraman. What a polite boy."
Married At First Sight Australia continues tomorrow at 7.30PM on E4 and streaming on Channel 4.
