Molly Mae's Favourite Toner Pad Trend Gets 22p High Street Update at Boots

The beauty world is currently captivated by the toner pad trend, with celebrities such as Molly-Mae Hague publicly praising their skin-enhancing benefits. This fuss-free K-beauty innovation allows users to elevate their skincare routines without adding multiple extra steps, making it ideal for busy lifestyles.

Affordable Launch at Boots

Mediheal, a cult K-beauty brand, has introduced its latest product to the UK market. The new PDRN Lifting Pads are now available at Boots, priced at £22 for a tub containing 100 pads. This translates to just 22p per use, positioning them as an accessible entry point into the toner pad craze.

Like all toner pads, these are designed for quick skin fixes, perfect for hectic mornings or low-effort evening regimens. Users can swipe a pad across their skin after cleansing as a traditional toner step, or apply several pads to targeted areas for five to ten minutes as a mini sheet mask treatment.

Science Behind the PDRN Formula

The PDRN Lifting Pads are formulated to target the appearance of pores and fine lines, delivering active ingredients deep into the skin to promote a smoother and firmer complexion. They can be incorporated into both morning and night routines based on individual preferences.

Dr Ewa Kania, an aesthetic doctor and regenerative skin specialist, provided insight into the key ingredient. “PDRN is a DNA-fragment-derived regenerative ingredient originally developed for medical wound healing,” she explained. “In skin, it signals fibroblasts and other cells to support collagen and elastin synthesis, enhance barrier repair, improve hydration, and reduce low-grade inflammation.”

Mediheal uses plant-based Rose PDRN in this product, which the brand claims is 250 times smaller than animal-derived PDRN, allowing for deeper delivery of active ingredients. While marketed as suitable for sensitive skin, results may vary among users.

Expanding Market and User Reviews

The toner pad trend continues to grow, with other brands joining the movement. Glow Recipe, previously endorsed by Sienna Miller, has released three targeted toner pads at Sephora for £27 each, each addressing specific skin concerns such as exfoliation, brightening, and repair.

Additionally, Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Correction Pads, available at Cult Beauty for £38.50, have gained acclaim for exfoliating properties and minimising the appearance of spots, blackheads, and fine lines.

Early reviews for Mediheal's PDRN Lifting Pads are positive, with one user exclaiming, “OMG I love these PDRN toner pads. They are so moist and really help with lifting. You should definitely have these toner pads in your routine.”

Feedback on other Mediheal products has been largely favourable. A long-term user of the Madecassoside Blemish Pads noted, “I've been using these pads for two to three years, and I'm so glad Boots is selling them now. It gets rid of marks I've had for a while and makes my skin feel so smooth.”

Another reviewer praised the Vitamide Brightening Pads, saying, “They instantly refresh, brighten dull skin, and leave it feeling smooth and glowing. Love how easy and hygienic they are to use.”

However, not all feedback is glowing. One user criticised the scent of a product, stating, “The smell puts me off. These actually smell like toilet cleaning products.” This highlights the subjective nature of skincare experiences.
