BTS Confirm 2026 Comeback & World Tour After Completing Military Service
BTS Confirm 2026 Comeback After Military Service

In a momentous announcement for their global fanbase, BigHit Music has officially confirmed the full-group comeback of the record-breaking K-pop boyband BTS. The news comes after all seven members successfully completed the mandatory 18-month military service required for able-bodied men in South Korea, marking the end of a four-year hiatus for the group.

The Long-Awaited Return

The agency made the confirmation on Thursday, sending a wave of excitement through the devoted ARMY fan community. The five-time Grammy-nominated group personally alerted fans via mail, declaring their hiatus over and revealing that their 10th studio album is scheduled for release on March 20. The sensational septet, whose members range in age from 28 to 32, included a heartfelt handwritten letter signed by everyone.

In the letter, rapping leader RM, real name Kim Nam-joon, expressed the group's own anticipation, writing: 'Waiting for (this comeback) more than anyone else'. Fellow members echoed the sentiment, with singer Jimin and rapper J-Hope calling 2026 'the year we finally meet again'. Rapper Suga, aka Min Yoon-gi, added enthusiastically: 'Let's have a joyful year together!'

New Music and Global Plans

The band members have already been hard at work, having recorded the new album in July. Following its release, BTS plans to launch a major world tour, fulfilling a promise made to their international followers. The group, also known as the Bangtan Boys, teased these plans during a July 1 livestream on the Weverse platform, stating: 'We'll be visiting fans all around the world. So we hope you're as excited as we are.'

Individual messages from the other members highlighted the significance of the reunion. Singer V wrote: 'In 2026, we'll make even more and even better memories together. So please look forward to it!' Singer Jungkook added: 'My heart has always been the same. I'll keep doing my best, just as I always have.' The eldest member, Jin, poignantly noted: 'I've greeted you as a solo artist over the past two years. And now I finally get to greet you again as part of the team.'

Completion of Service and Lasting Legacy

The path to this comeback was defined by the members' staggered military enlistments. The final discharges occurred this summer, with Jungkook and Jimin photographed leaving their base in Yeoncheon-gun on June 11. A day earlier, leader RM and singer V were seen departing their service in Chuncheon. Rapper Suga was the last member to complete his duties, finishing on June 21. Jin and J-Hope had completed their service back in 2024.

This return solidifies the ongoing legacy of BTS, an acronym for Bangtan Sonyeondan or 'Bulletproof Boy Scouts'. The group has already sold over 40 million records and continues to command a massive streaming presence, averaging 24.4 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Impressively, all seven members have also achieved the milestone of 2 billion streams on the platform as solo artists, underscoring their individual and collective star power as they prepare to reunite on the global stage.
