The iconic noughties girl group Mis-Teeq are reportedly in discussions to reunite for a special concert, marking a major milestone for their groundbreaking debut album.
Celebrating a Chart-Topping Legacy
Alesha Dixon, Sabrina Washington, and Su-Elise Nash are said to be planning a comeback performance to honour the 25th anniversary of their hit 2001 record, 'Lickin' On Both Sides'. The album was a massive commercial success, soaring to number three on the Official Albums Chart and spawning the band's first five singles, all of which became UK top 10 hits.
A source close to the group revealed that discussions are actively underway. "Alesha has been excitedly talking about this for a while and would love a Mis-Teeq reunion with Sabrina and Su-Elise to happen," they stated. While nothing is yet confirmed, the band are keen to celebrate with their loyal fanbase.
From Feud to Friendship: The Path to Reconciliation
The road to a potential reunion has not been entirely smooth. For years, it was believed that Alesha Dixon's busy schedule was the main obstacle. However, in 2020, it emerged that Sabrina Washington had launched legal action against her former bandmate over disputed song-writing royalties from their early singles.
Thankfully, that rift now appears to be firmly in the past. Su-Elise Nash confirmed to the Daily Mail that Sabrina is "back in the fold," revealing the trio are in regular contact via a dedicated Mis-Teeq WhatsApp group. "We do catch up every now and then... to see how we're all doing," she explained, emphasising the amicable nature of their current relationship.
What Form Could the Comeback Take?
Ideas for the reunion are still being explored. The source suggested it could range from an intimate gig for die-hard fans to a televised performance on a major show like Britain's Got Talent, where Alesha serves as a judge. The primary motivation, however, is to commemorate an album that launched their careers.
"'Lickin' On Both Sides' launched Alesha, Sabrina and Su-Elise's music careers and that record holds a really special place in their hearts," the insider added.
Su-Elise echoed this sentiment, stating that any return would be driven by enjoyment rather than necessity. "We're at a point now where if we did decide to do something, it would be for the fun and the giggles," she said. While confirming the group are speaking regularly, she stressed that plans are "nothing set in stone as yet."
Formed in 1999, Mis-Teeq became pioneers of UK garage and R&B, achieving global success with hits like 'Scandalous'. The group, which enjoyed two top ten albums and seven consecutive UK chart singles, disbanded in 2005 after their record label collapsed.
