Noel Gallagher Returns to Studio with Major Music Update
Legendary songwriter Noel Gallagher has confirmed he is actively working on new music in the recording studio, delivering exciting news for fans just weeks before he is scheduled to accept the prestigious Songwriter of the Year award at the BRIT Awards ceremony. The 58-year-old Manchester icon made the revelation following the tremendous success of last year's Oasis reunion, though he has not specified whether his current creative efforts are focused on material for the iconic band or for his solo project, High Flying Birds.
BRIT Awards Move to Manchester for Historic Ceremony
This year marks a significant departure for the BRIT Awards as, for the first time ever, the ceremony will be held outside London. Instead, it will take place in Manchester, the legendary musical city that gave birth to Oasis, The Stone Roses, Take That, Joy Division, and numerous other influential acts. The relocation adds a poignant layer to Gallagher's recognition, as he will be honoured in his hometown where his musical journey began.
"I'm in the studio now, but I better put something out," Gallagher stated during a recent interview, humorously adding, "I've been shamed." When discussing how he learned about winning the Songwriter of the Year award, he told talkSPORT: "If I'm being honest right, I just think they were desperate to get somebody from Oasis up there because it's from Manchester… That's what I think."
Brotherly Dynamics and Award Controversy
Gallagher also addressed the absence of his younger brother, Liam Gallagher, from the ceremony, noting: "Our kid (Liam), was like 'I'm not going,' I was like 'Well I'll have to go then, I suppose." He expressed initial surprise at receiving the award, saying: "But no, a call came through and I was like 'What? How can that be?'"
He further defended the honour by pointing to Oasis's commercial success: "Well, I think the BRITs is all based on record sales, and I'm not sure there was another single songwriter that sold… I mean, we sold a million records last year. Didn't even get off the couch, and I'm not sure there's a songwriter that can match that." In typical Gallagher fashion, he issued a challenge to any critics: "But you know, if anybody's got a problem with it, meet me there. We'll have it out on the red carpet."
Speculation Surrounds New Material and Oasis Future
Fans are now eagerly speculating whether Gallagher's studio work will result in new music for Oasis or for High Flying Birds, which would follow their 2023 album Council Skies. The speculation has been fueled by last year's euphoric Oasis Live '25 tour and ongoing discussions about the band's future. Gallagher added to the intrigue by telling fans he was "back at work" after the Christmas period and even hinted at availability to write the next James Bond theme.
Liam Gallagher has since suggested on social media that both brothers will attend the BRIT Awards, joking about matching outfits. He also mentioned potential future tours, stating the band has "loads more classics" to perform. However, Oasis co-manager Alec McKinlay has dismissed some claims, leading Liam to clarify: "The only people that will be making any kind of decisions on the future of Oasis will be me n rkid (Noel) so let's just take it one day at a time."
As the music world awaits further details, Noel Gallagher's confirmation of new studio work and his upcoming BRIT Awards honour have created a buzz of anticipation, blending nostalgia with excitement for what may come next from one of Britain's most celebrated songwriters.
