Her absence was not due to illness but to a pre-planned official duty. The Princess Royal is currently on a four-day tour of Australia, accompanied by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.
Earlier today, in a parallel act of commemoration, Princess Anne attended a Remembrance service and laid a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Sydney. Her visit marks the centenary of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, for which she has served as Colonel-in-Chief since 1977.
Long-Standing Military Commitments Overseas
Buckingham Palace had announced this overseas engagement several weeks prior. In an official statement, the Palace confirmed: "The Princess will undertake a series of military engagements in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane."
