Netflix Drama Adolescence Tops Bafta TV Awards with 11 Nominations
The hit Netflix series Adolescence has emerged as the frontrunner for this year's Bafta TV awards, securing an impressive 11 nominations. The drama, which has already garnered acclaim at the Golden Globes and Critics' Choice awards, continues to make waves in the television industry.
Star-Studded Nominations Across Categories
Leading the charge are the show's talented cast members, who have received multiple nods. Stephen Graham, who co-created, wrote, and starred in Adolescence, is nominated in the leading actor category. His co-stars Christine Tremarco and Erin Doherty are both up for supporting actress, while young star Owen Cooper and Ashley Walters are nominated in the supporting actor category.
The series itself is nominated for limited series and limited drama, among other accolades. The four-part drama follows 13-year-old Jamie Miller, portrayed by Cooper, who is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl at his school. Graham stars as Jamie's father Eddie Miller, with the programme examining incel culture and sparking national conversations about online safety.
Disney+ Series A Thousand Blows Scores Seven Nominations
Another standout performer in this year's nominations is Disney+'s A Thousand Blows, which has secured seven nominations. The series, which launched in 2025 and is based on a true story, follows Jamaican immigrants in the bare-knuckle boxing circuit of London's East End.
Created by Peaky Blinders' Steven Knight and executive produced by Graham and his wife Hannah Walters through their company Matriarch Productions, the series has earned Erin Doherty a second nomination in the leading actress category for her role as Mary Carr. A Thousand Blows is also nominated in drama series and costume design categories across both the television awards and TV craft awards.
Multiple Nominees and Notable Contenders
This year sees several performers receiving multiple nominations. Aimee Lou Wood, known for Sex Education, is nominated twice - in the supporting actress category for her role in Sky Atlantic's The White Lotus, and in the leading actress category for her work in comedy series Film Club, which she co-created alongside Suranne Jones.
Other notable nominations include six craft nods for the Star Wars series Andor, six nominations for Northern Irish drama Trespasses, and five nominations for The Celebrity Traitors - the BBC's ratings juggernaut hosted by Claudia Winkleman and won by comedian Alan Carr.
Memorable Moments and Current Affairs Recognition
The memorable moment award, the only category voted for by the public, features several standout scenes including Jamie shouting at the psychologist in Adolescence, the poignant finale of comedy Big Boys, a dramatic police ambush in Blue Lights, Bob Mortimer and Richard Ayoade's speed date in Last One Laughing, and a moment of self-discovery in What It Feels Like For A Girl.
In the current affairs category, Gaza: Doctors Under Attack has received a nomination. The documentary was originally commissioned by the BBC but shelved over impartiality concerns before eventually airing on Channel 4.

Bafta CEO Jane Millichip praised the exceptional year for television, stating: "2025 has been an exceptional year for television, reflected in 124 nominated programmes that highlight the strength and originality of British storytelling.
