Fans of the late Eric Dane have been moved to tears after HBO released unseen behind-the-scenes footage of the actor, who died in February at age 53 following a battle with motor neurone disease. The beloved star, best known for playing Cal Jacobs on the hit drama Euphoria, had already completed filming for the current season, and his character remains a central figure in the show.
Behind-the-Scenes Tribute
Following the premiere of Episode 3, which focused on his on-screen son Nate's wedding, HBO Max shared a 13-minute video on YouTube featuring a touching interview with Dane. In the clip, the actor reflects on his time on set, saying: "This has been the most profound experience of my career. I really got on well with all the people I work with and it was great to see them all again."
The footage also shows Dane joking with castmates, including a reference to Stanley Kubrick's classic The Shining. Speaking to a crew member, he says: "You know who you remind me of? A guy named Lloyd, do you know Lloyd? Repeat after me 'Your money's no good here Mr Torrance.'" The quote references a scene where bartender Lloyd offers Jack Torrance a free drink.
Heartfelt Confessions
In another segment, Dane shares a heartfelt confession about his time on the HBO drama: "This show was a very stress-free environment for me and seeing all those familiar faces was such a treat. It's been a fun ride."
Fans have expressed their heartbreak in the comments section. One wrote: "Eric!!! My heart!!! Happy to see the outtakes and hear him talking as himself but it's so bittersweet. He's such a beautiful soul that will be missed forever."
