Morning Live presenter Kym Marsh has explained her absence from the BBC One show, revealing she has been supporting her father through his cancer treatment. The former Coronation Street star's father was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer in June, a diagnosis delayed due to the pandemic.
On Friday's programme, co-host Gethin Jones checked in with Marsh, who shared an update on her father's progress. Jones noted that her father is making 'great progress' thanks to a 'wonder drug'. Marsh said: 'You might have noticed I've not been around much since the end of July – well, there's been some very good reasons for that.'
Marsh also addressed her mental health, stating she is not putting pressure on herself to return full-time. 'For now I'm just gonna take each day as it comes and not put any pressure on myself,' she said. The 45-year-old previously tested positive for COVID-19, leading to Strictly Come Dancing's Janette Manrara stepping in as her replacement.
Morning Live airs weekdays at 9.15am on BBC One and iPlayer.
