Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were spotted on a rare outing together in New York City on Thursday. The iconic twins, both 39, exuded effortless style as they strolled through the city in matching oversize outerwear and crocodile-embossed leather handbags.
Style Details
For her casual luncheon look, Mary-Kate left her dark blonde hair down in subtle beach waves. She wore a long black trench coat paired with a smaller handbag, while her sister Ashley did the opposite. Ashley tied her hair into a low ponytail and tucked into her black scarf for their mid-week meetup.
Rare Public Appearance
The Full House veterans, who made a rare red carpet appearance together at the CFDA Fashion Awards, were both sporting retro sunglasses and identical grins as they greeted a friend outside a restaurant. The duo retired from acting over a decade ago and have since focused on growing their luxury brand The Row, founded in 2006 and often worn by celebrities like Kendall Jenner.
Jodie Sweetin on Her Bond with the Twins
Their outing comes shortly after their former Full House co-star, Jodie Sweetin, opened up about her relationship with Mary-Kate and Ashley since the series concluded in 1995. Sweetin, now 44, started filming the ABC sitcom at age five, while the Olsen twins were six months old when the show premiered in 1987.
Sweetin said she had a close bond with the twins as they grew up together over the show's eight-season run. 'I loved them,' she said on The McBride Rewind Podcast, revealing they drifted apart after the twins moved to New York City. She also spoke about reuniting with them about four years ago after their onscreen dad Bob Saget passed away in 2022.
'I was really close to Ashley and Mary-Kate. I would go to their room and hang out and play with them,' Sweetin recalled. She added that after filming, the twins 'would come spend the night at my house.' They also went horseback riding and visited Disneyland together.
Sweetin noted there was 'no bad blood' and that when they reunited in 2022 after Saget's death, 'it was just like it was before.' She said, 'We all spent like four days just constantly together... and it was like nothing had changed.'
