Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh has candidly revealed that her appearance on The Celebrity Chase stands as the single most stressful day throughout her entire broadcasting career. The popular television presenter, who is currently returning for a third series of her ITV gameshow Riddiculous alongside co-host Henry Lewis, found the experience of being a quiz contestant unexpectedly taxing.
The Pressure of Being on the Other Side
Speaking exclusively ahead of the new episodes of Riddiculous, Ranvir Singh disclosed: "I did The Chase once, The Celebrity Chase, and it was the most stressful day of my entire career." She elaborated that many other celebrities who have participated in the show have shared similar sentiments, often exclaiming, "Oh my god, why didn't anybody tell me doing The Chase is stressful? Because you just feel the pressure so much!"
The broadcaster also reflected on her previous experience with University Challenge, stating: "I did University Challenge quite a few years ago, and I do not like the idea of being on the other side of a quiz at all." This aversion to being quizzed contrasts sharply with her current role as a gameshow host, where she is firmly in control.
A Different Side to Ranvir on Riddiculous
Discussing her gameshow Riddiculous, Ranvir highlighted how it allows her to showcase a completely different persona compared to her serious news presenting duties on Good Morning Britain. She explained: "It's obviously very different to news because the news... there isn't always a chance to have a giggle, news is serious and can be heavy at times."
She continued: "This was not only different for the viewers to see me having an absolute laugh and I take the mickey out of the contestants and it's funny, and Henry and I have the odd flirtation here and there, it's all very tongue in cheek and lighthearted." This playful dynamic with co-host Henry Lewis offers audiences a refreshing glimpse into her more relaxed and humorous side.
Dream Celebrity Contestants for Riddiculous
When teasing which celebrities she would love to see participate in a potential celebrity version of Riddiculous, Ranvir Singh immediately thought of her Good Morning Britain colleagues. She said: "I would absolutely love a celebrity version of it, I would quite like there to be one celebrity and one viewer, or a past champion to come back."
However, she acknowledged a significant challenge: "What makes me laugh, because it's riddles and we can't soften the riddles for the celebrity version, so you do actually have to be good, and I'm just not sure how many celebrities will feel confident that they can do it and we want to raise money for charity obviously if they come on and do it." She suggested that celebrities might need a riddle expert by their side to help them navigate the puzzles successfully.
Specifically naming her desired contestants, Ranvir added: "I would love for Kate Garraway, Susanna Reid, Ed Balls, Richard Madeley... I would love to be the one hosting when some of my colleagues came on and tried to solve the riddles, that would be very funny." The prospect of watching her fellow presenters tackle challenging riddles clearly amuses her.
Riddiculous returns for its new series, airing weekdays at 3pm from Monday, February 9 on ITV and the streaming platform ITVX. Fans can look forward to more lighthearted entertainment and riddles from Ranvir Singh and Henry Lewis, a welcome contrast to the high-pressure environment she experienced on The Celebrity Chase.
