In a surprising shake-up during Friday's live broadcast, a familiar face from Lorraine made a temporary appearance on Good Morning Britain, stepping in for a long-standing favourite.
Unexpected Replacement on Morning Show
Ranvir Singh and Kate Garraway returned to the new central London studio of Good Morning Britain on March 27 to deliver the latest news updates. However, viewers noticed a change during the entertainment segment, as Rishi Davda, known for his role on Lorraine, filled in for Richard Arnold.
Ranvir announced, "Rishi Davda is here, in for Richard Arnold," marking a departure from the usual lineup. Richard Arnold, a fixture on GMB since 2014, has been a consistent presence throughout the week, including presenting last Friday's entertainment segment alongside Ranvir and Kate.
Rishi Davda's Background and Role
Rishi Davda is best recognised as the entertainment reporter for ITV News, covering a wide range of arts and entertainment stories across various bulletins and digital platforms. He has been featured on Lorraine since 2022, initially discussing I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! with host Lorraine Kelly, and continues to contribute as a reporter.
At the start of the segment, Kate remarked on Rishi's busy schedule, saying, "[Rishi's] barely slept, Ranvir," after he attended the MOBO Awards in Manchester the previous night. Ranvir then inquired, "What time did you get in from the MOBO Awards, you dirty stop out?" to which Rishi confirmed, "It was after midnight. I didn't stay for the whole thing because I had to be here, and the last train departs from Manchester a little bit earlier than I would like. But I think sleep is overrated."
Highlights from the MOBO Awards
Rishi shared exciting news from the star-studded MOBO Awards, celebrating its 30th anniversary. He highlighted the presence of notable guests such as Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams, who received the Global Songwriter award, and Slick Rick, who won the Lifetime Achievement gong. Olivia Dean was a standout winner, named Best Female Act and securing both the Album and Song of the Year prizes for her chart-topper The Art of Loving and its hit track, Man I Need.
Other Music News Covered
In addition to the MOBOs, Rishi discussed the iHeartRadio Music Awards in Los Angeles, where Taylor Swift dominated by winning seven trophies, including Artist of the Year and Best Pop Album for The Life of a Showgirl. He also touched on Paul McCartney's new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, which features a tribute to his former Beatles bandmate John Lennon.
This temporary replacement underscores the dynamic nature of morning television, with Rishi Davda seamlessly stepping in to deliver entertainment updates while Richard Arnold's usual role was briefly filled. Good Morning Britain continues to air weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 6am, keeping viewers informed and entertained with fresh perspectives.
