Fans of the BBC's flagship cookery show, Saturday Kitchen, are in for a treat this weekend as the programme returns with a brand new live episode, but they'll need to set their alarms a little earlier than usual.
An Unexpected Schedule Change
Presenter Matt Tebbutt has revealed a significant scheduling tweak for the popular show's upcoming broadcast. The episode, airing on Saturday, 10 January 2026, will now begin at 9:45am, a full 15 minutes earlier than its typical 10am slot.
The 51-year-old host broke the news directly to viewers via his social media channels. On Instagram, he shared a cheerful photo with co-presenter and drinks expert Olly Smith, overlaid with the text: "Back to school tomorrow...earlier time 9:45am... Be there!" His accompanying caption simply read: "@Saturdaykitchen See you at 9:45am!", sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation.
Star-Studded Line-Up for Live Show
The earlier start time is for a special live episode featuring a stellar line-up of guests. Joining Matt in the studio will be chefs Adam Smith and Mandy Yin, alongside special guest Shirley Ballas.
As always, Olly Smith will be on hand to recommend the perfect wine pairings for the dishes created. Adding an extra layer of excitement, Vito Coppola will also be showcasing his culinary skills in the kitchen.
Fans React with Enthusiasm
The announcement was met with immediate and overwhelming positivity from the show's dedicated audience in the comments section of Matt's post.
One excited viewer wrote: "Oh yeah ! Sitting at the back of the class with petit-pois shooters. HNY guys. Can't wait!", while another praised the thrill of live television, stating: "Can't wait! ! There's something special about truly live shows!"
The sentiment was widely shared, with other fans commenting: "Looking forward to it," "Will be there, feet up with a mug of tea. My favourite programme," and "Ah so excited, adore your shows." One more added: "Love my Saturday mornings watching you both," highlighting the show's role as a beloved weekend ritual.
The excitement comes after a recent, slightly awkward moment on the show where guest Maisie Adam appeared sceptical of Matt's spinach and ricotta creation, initially describing it as looking "minging." However, she was ultimately won over, declaring the final result "lovely" and "genuinely great."
Viewers can catch the new, earlier episode of Saturday Kitchen live on BBC One at 9:45am on Saturday, or stream it later on BBC iPlayer.
