Scrubs 2026 Revival Cast Unveiled: A Mix of Nostalgia and Fresh Talent
The highly anticipated revival of the classic sitcom Scrubs is now in full swing, with production well underway and the series currently streaming on Disney+. Fans of the original show are being treated to a delightful blend of familiar faces and exciting new additions, as the story returns to the chaotic yet heartwarming halls of Sacred Heart Hospital.
Returning Favorites Take Center Stage
Leading the charge in this new iteration are three iconic characters from the original series. Zach Braff reprises his role as the daydreaming Dr. John 'JD' Dorian, while Donald Faison returns as his best friend and surgical resident, Dr. Chris Turk. Sarah Chalke is back as the brilliant but neurotic Dr. Elliot Reid, JD's now ex-wife. These three form the core of the experienced medical staff tasked with mentoring a new generation of interns.
According to the official synopsis, "Medicine has changed; interns have changed; but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way."
Guest Appearances from Beloved Original Cast Members
While Braff, Faison, and Chalke are the only original actors listed as main cast members, several other fan favorites will make special guest appearances. This includes John C. McGinley as the acerbic Dr. Perry Cox, Judy Reyes as the no-nonsense nurse Carla, Robert Maschio as the irrepressible The Todd, and Phill Lewis as the eccentric Hooch. Additionally, viewers can look forward to the return of Neil Flynn as the Janitor, though the specific episode of his appearance remains a mystery.
Introducing the New Faces of Sacred Heart
The revival introduces a host of new characters played by a talented ensemble of actors. The main cast additions include:
- Ava Bunn as Dr. Sam Tosh, known for her role in Netflix's Man on the Inside.
- Jacob Dudman as Dr. Asher Green, an English actor with credits in The Stranger and Doctor Who audio adventures.
- David Gridley as Dr. Blake Lewis, previously seen in The Rookie and Rooster.
- Layla Mohammadi as surgical intern Dr. Amara Hadi, who starred in Lioness.
- Amanda Morrow as surgical intern Dr. Dashana Trainor, making her TV debut in 2021 on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Recurring Roles and Notable Guest Stars
Supporting the main cast are several recurring characters played by well-known performers. Michael James Scott, famed for his role as the Genie in Broadway's Aladdin, takes on the part of Nurse Dubois. X Mayo, a writer for The Daily Show and star of Wonder Man, portrays Nurse Raymond.
Other recurring roles include Vanessa Byer as Sibby Wilson, a former Saturday Night Live cast member with roles in Hoppers and Brooklyn Nine Nine. Joel Kim Booster plays Dr. Kevin Park, JD's latest nemesis, known for Loot and Big Mouth.
Guest stars have already generated buzz, with comedian Lisa Gilroy appearing as Lily the harpist, following her roles in Jury Duty and Twisted Metal. Comic Matt Rife also makes a cameo as patient Logan Nichols.
