Popular presenter Susanna Reid has confirmed she is stepping away from the Good Morning Britain sofa for a festive break, bidding viewers farewell just before a significant overhaul of ITV's daytime lineup.
A Festive Farewell for the GMB Star
At the end of the show on Wednesday, December 17, the 55-year-old broadcaster informed audiences that she would be absent for the Christmas period. Reid, a mum of three who fronts the programme from Monday to Thursday each week, signed off with a cheerful message.
"Good Morning Britain, back tomorrow from six. I'm saying goodbye for Christmas! I will see you next year, now it's time to join Lorraine. Happy Christmas," she announced.
This seasonal pause is a regular tradition for Reid, meaning she will be off-air for more than a fortnight. Her return in the new year will coincide with a host of new changes across ITV's daytime output.
Major ITV Schedule Changes Looming in 2026
Reid's break precedes a substantial reshuffle of ITV's morning schedule, driven by cost-cutting measures. Two flagship shows, Loose Women and Lorraine, are set for major adjustments.
From January 2026, both programmes will only run for 30 weeks of the year. Furthermore, the long-running chat show Loose Women will be forced to ditch its studio audience.
The schedule itself will see a significant shift. Lorraine Kelly's programme, Lorraine, will move from its current 9am to 10am slot to a shorter broadcast, airing daily from 9.30am until 10am.
Good Morning Britain to Extend Its Run
As a direct consequence of Lorraine's shortened slot, Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes. Currently running from 6am until 9am, the news and entertainment programme will from 2026 broadcast from 6am until 9.30am.
This extension marks one of the most notable changes to the ITV morning lineup in recent years, ensuring Susanna Reid and her co-hosts will have an even longer stretch to kick-start the nation's day upon her return.
