The series, which launches this spring on BBC1, features eight well-known faces delving into their family histories across the globe.

Emotional Journeys and Dramatic Revelations

Television and radio presenter Zoe Ball explores both her Scottish and Cornish roots, unearthing a tragic tale of hardship and survival that moved her to tears. Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden, who recently overcame breast cancer, takes time away from the dance floor to solve a family murder. Her investigation leads her to a West Wales farmhouse and a valley named after her ancestor, with the story revealing powerful parallels to her own life experiences.

Spanning many centuries, the series takes viewers across the UK and to international destinations including Australia, Tasmania, Italy, India, the Bahamas and Kenya. Each celebrity uncovers extraordinary stories of love, loss, rebellion and resilience that shaped their family histories.

BBC history commissioning boss Simon Young told The Mirror: "This series never fails to astonish and surprise. In all of the hidden histories it uncovers - aided by the generosity and openness of a simply exceptional cast - we can find a sample of the incredible richness and diversity that makes up modern Britain."

Production Insights and Broadcast Schedule

Executive producer Colette Flight from Wall to Wall Media expressed delight at securing eight of the nation's best-loved celebrities for the series. "We see their astonishment, delight, laughter and tears as they discover how the incredible stories of their ancestors have shaped their family, and them," she explained. "Along the way they learn about the dramatic social forces and historical events that impacted their families."

The first four episodes will launch on BBC1 this spring, with the remaining four following after a summer break. The series promises to deliver compelling social history that brings viewers together through shared human experiences across generations.
