Morning Joe hosts reveal 24/7 marriage secret after on-air clash
Morning Joe hosts reveal secret to their marriage

MSNBC's Morning Joe co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski have unveiled the surprising secret behind their enduring marriage, just weeks after a noticeable on-air disagreement about the Democratic Party's current state.

The Unconventional Bond

In a revealing new interview with People magazine, the media power couple explained that their constant companionship forms the foundation of their successful relationship. "We're together 24/7, and that really works for us," Brzezinski disclosed about her marriage to Scarborough.

Scarborough elaborated on this unusual arrangement, noting that nobody understands him better than his co-host and wife. "I guess, for some people, the strange thing is we love being together all the time," he added, reflecting on their unique dynamic that began when their show first aired in 2007.

Shared Understanding of Demanding Careers

The couple, who have hosted the MSNBC morning show together for over a decade and married in November 2018, share an intimate understanding of each other's professional pressures. "Getting up at 4.30 in the morning, and getting shot out of a cannon at 6 and tap dancing for four hours, there's literally nobody on the planet that understands what that's like, except for the person that I'm with all the time," Scarborough told the publication.

Brzezinski believes their unconventional schedule has actually strengthened their bond, creating a closeness that might not exist with more traditional living arrangements. Their wedding took place at the National Archives in Washington and was officiated by former US Representative Elijah Cummings.

Contrasting Relaxation Habits

Despite their constant togetherness, the couple revealed they maintain different approaches to unwinding after their demanding morning show. "When we first got married, I had no idea that Mika watched cable news 24 hours a day," Scarborough admitted, describing how he discovered his wife's habit of channel-flipping and "catastrophizing" over other networks' coverage.

Scarborough described himself as the "exact opposite" when it comes to disconnecting from work. "I do the show and then I'm off... You have to get some distance, get some perspective, and have a better understanding," he explained.

Their differences extend to weekends as well, with Scarborough preferring relaxation time with his son while Brzezinski focuses on being "productive as possible" through activities like exercise.

This insight into their relationship comes shortly after their early October on-air tension, where they clashed over the Democratic Party's approach to the looming government shutdown, with Scarborough criticising the party's talent shortage while Brzezinski argued they faced an administration "playing dirty."
