Alison Hammond, the beloved television presenter known for her roles on This Morning and The Great British Bake Off, has shared a significant health update following a remarkable personal transformation. The star has successfully reversed a prediabetic diagnosis after overhauling her lifestyle and shedding an impressive 11 stone in weight.
A Health Wake-Up Call
The 50-year-old broadcaster explained that the journey began after receiving a concerning medical diagnosis. "My mum had Type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening," Hammond revealed in an interview with Women's Health magazine. "I thought 'I have to be an adult about this'. The sweets had to stop, and the fatty foods."
This family history of diabetes served as a crucial motivator for the television personality to take decisive action regarding her health and wellbeing.
The Transformation Strategy
Hammond's approach combined both dietary modifications and a consistent fitness regimen. She made the pivotal decision to eliminate two specific food groups from her diet entirely: sugary sweets and fatty foods.
Alongside these nutritional changes, the presenter embarked on a structured exercise programme with professional support. "I train with my personal trainer twice weekly and keep a set of weights in my bedroom for regular use," she explained. "I try to vary it so it's not the same every day ... the kick you get out of the way you feel is so good."
Remarkable Results and New Confidence
The comprehensive lifestyle overhaul has yielded extraordinary results, both medically and personally. Hammond confirmed that her prediabetic condition has now been reversed, allowing her some dietary flexibility. "Because my body's working properly, I can allow myself a bit of sugar here and there," she noted.
The physical transformation has also brought a renewed sense of confidence and style freedom. "I love my new shape and although I still have areas I'm conscious of, such as my arms and tummy, it's great being able to wear things I would never have been able to before," the presenter shared enthusiastically. "I mean, look at me, I'm a bombshell."
Alison Hammond first captured public attention during her brief stint on Big Brother in 2002, when she was just 22 years old. Her career has since flourished, establishing her as one of British television's most recognisable and cherished personalities. This latest chapter in her life story demonstrates a profound commitment to health that has delivered both medical benefits and personal empowerment.
