A 44-year-old Australian father-of-two has tragically passed away in his sleep while on a family holiday in Thailand. Cameron Degan, from the Central Coast, was discovered unresponsive in a hotel bed by his wife, Kylie, on Sunday morning.
Desperate Attempts to Save Him
Upon finding her husband, Ms Degan immediately began attempting resuscitation while waiting for emergency services to arrive. An ambulance reached the scene approximately one hour later, but despite the efforts of paramedics, Mr Degan could not be revived.
Heartbreaking Announcement on Social Media
Kylie Degan shared the devastating news through social media, writing: 'It's taking every bit of strength to post this. On our Thailand holiday, I lost the love of my life, my best friend, and Charlotte and Jack have lost the best dad in the world.'
Family Returns to Australia
The Degan family has since returned to Australia, where they face the difficult process of grieving and adjusting to life without their beloved husband and father. Family friend Ashley Green, who organized a GoFundMe fundraiser, explained the situation.
Fundraiser Launched for Repatriation and Expenses
'While on vacation in Thailand, Kylie, Charlotte, and Jack lost their beloved husband and father, Cameron,' Ms Green stated. 'This sudden and devastating loss has left them heartbroken. We are fundraising to support them through the significant financial challenges resulting from this tragedy.'
The funds raised will be directed toward several critical expenses:
- Repatriation costs to bring Mr Degan's body back to Australia
- Funeral and memorial arrangements
- Other immediate financial burdens facing the family
A Community Rallies Around Grieving Family
The sudden loss has shocked both the Degan family and their wider community. The GoFundMe campaign represents an effort to provide practical support during this unimaginably difficult time, as the family navigates both emotional devastation and substantial logistical challenges following the tragedy abroad.
