Weight management giant Weight Watchers has announced a major new service tailored for the growing number of people using GLP-1 weight-loss injections like Ozempic and Wegovy. The initiative, named the GLP-1 Success Programme, is designed to provide crucial support to help individuals achieve and maintain healthy, long-term results while on the medications.
What Does the New Programme Offer?
The newly launched members' package is a comprehensive support system. It provides personalised coaching, expert nutritional guidance, and practical exercise tips specifically for those prescribed GLP-1 drugs. The company stresses that while these 'jabs' are powerful, they are not a magic bullet and deliver optimal outcomes only when combined with structured, professional support.
The programme aims to help users better tolerate the medication, manage potential side effects, and crucially, protect lean muscle mass during weight loss. It promises a more flexible approach that fits into the realities of daily life, offering clearer tracking of progress over time.
Expert Insight on Biological and Behavioural Change
Dr Kim Boyd, the Chief Medical Officer at Weight Watchers, explained the rationale behind the new service. "GLP-1 medications are powerful tools, but they're not a standalone solution," she stated. "They work across the body, including the brain, to reduce hunger signals and food noise - something that can be especially helpful during the festive season."
Dr Boyd emphasised that the programme is designed to translate the biological effects of the drugs into sustainable lifestyle changes. The science-backed support includes tracking doses and side effects, providing nutrition and movement guidance to preserve muscle, and access to a dedicated community for people on a similar GLP-1 journey.
Launch Details and Brand Repositioning
The GLP-1 Success Programme is scheduled to launch across the UK in January 2026. Weight Watchers has established a partnership with CheqUp, a UK-based prescriber of GLP-1 medications, to facilitate the rollout.
The launch coincides with a broader refresh of the Weight Watchers brand identity, as the company seeks to reposition itself within the wider health and wellness sector. Tara Comonte, CEO of Weight Watchers, said, "People are increasingly looking for safe, expert guidance and support that fits the way they actually live. And most importantly, they want real and sustainable results."
She added that internal data shows members who use GLP-1 medications while engaged with the company's programmes lose more weight and report higher levels of satisfaction and quality of life.
