British National Fighting for Russian Forces Feared Dead After Disappearance

A British man who joined Vladimir Putin's military forces in the conflict against Ukraine is believed to have been killed after vanishing from the front line. Aiden Minnis, aged 39 and originally from Chippenham in Wiltshire, has reportedly not been heard from in nearly two weeks since being deployed to active combat zones in eastern Ukraine.

Dramatic Act of Defiance and Allegiance to Russia

Minnis previously filmed a dramatic video in October last year where he set his British passport alight in front of a large Russian flag. He claimed the UK government had threatened to revoke his citizenship. The traitor concluded the clip with the words 'F*** Great Britain, Slava Rossii' meaning glory to Russia, before firing an assault rifle.

His last known social media activity occurred on January 25, when he shared a chilling image of himself holding a Kalashnikov rifle in a wooded area. In accompanying text, Minnis discussed the dangers posed by Ukrainian drones, writing: 'A Kalashnikov isn't much good against a drone unless it's hovering and isn't a kamikaze. Need a shotgun ideally and needs to be close enough.'

Alarm Raised by Fellow British Fighter

Ben Stimson, the only other British national known to be fighting for Russia, has raised concerns about Minnis's disappearance. According to reports, Stimson posted on social media: 'Worried about my comrade Aiden Minnis. He's not been seen for a week. I pray all is OK.' In a subsequent message on Sunday, he added: 'Please pray for Aiden. He's currently missing.'

Minnis's family has provided no official update regarding his status, neither confirming him as missing nor dead. Notably, no British nationals have been reported killed while fighting for Moscow in the conflict, whereas forty have died defending Ukraine.

Troubled Past and Radical Transformation

Aiden Minnis has a history of criminal activity and extremist affiliations. He was a former drug addict and previously belonged to the far-right National Front party during his time in the United Kingdom. In 2008, he received a prison sentence of four years and three months for an unprovoked racially motivated assault on a man in the street.

After fleeing the UK when the war erupted in 2022, Minnis took up arms for the Russian regime. He joined the Russian army in January 2024 and has frequently boasted on social media about allegedly killing Ukrainians, using derogatory slang terms.

Complete Rejection of British Identity

Last year, Minnis pledged his full allegiance to Russia and its leadership, proudly displaying his new Russian passport in videos produced by Kremlin-linked propaganda outlets. He declared: 'I have a Russian passport. I am now Russian. I am relieved because now I know I am safe, safe from prosecution in the UK.'

In another statement, he expressed his contempt for his country of origin: 'Of course, I am happy. I am starting a new life in Russia. I am now Russian. I am happy to be Russian. I reiterate that I condemn my country of origin.'

Back in Britain, his family has completely disowned him, stating they 'want nothing to do with him.' Earlier this year, Minnis labeled Britain a 'fascist state' just weeks after Putin's controversial election victory in Russia.

Official Government Response

A UK government spokesman commented on the situation last year, stating: 'Reports of British nationals taking part in illegal invasion are shocking and their alleged actions are reprehensible. Those who travel from the UK to conflict zones to engage in unlawful activity should expect to be investigated upon their return.'
