In the accompanying caption, he expressed gratitude for his longevity and vitality: 'I’m 86 today! Nothing like some playful action on a sunny day to make you feel young. I’m grateful for another year, good health and the chance to keep doing what I love.'

After separating from Holecheck in 1988, Norris married his second wife Gena O'Kelly that same year. The couple welcomed twins Dakota and Danilee in 2001. Norris also had a daughter from an extramarital relationship in 1962.
