Iran Offers to Share Weapons Capabilities with Russia, China

Iran is ready to share its defensive weapons capabilities with independent countries, particularly members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), according to Deputy Defence Minister Reza Talaei-Nik. Speaking at an SCO defence ministers' meeting in Kyrgyzstan's capital, he highlighted Tehran's willingness to transfer military experience gained from its recent war with the United States and Israel.

Conflict and Ceasefire

The conflict, which lasted from late February to early April, involved waves of drones and missiles launched by Iran at US bases across the region and Israeli sites. Iran also shot down US aerial targets, primarily drones, over its airspace. A ceasefire was announced earlier this month, but efforts to resolve the two-month war have stalled.

SCO Cooperation

The SCO currently includes six member states: China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, with Iran as an observer. The organisation aims to promote good-neighbourly cooperation on security and economic issues. Talaei-Nik stated, "We are ready to share the experiences of America's defeat with other members of the organisation."

He also held talks with Russian and Belarusian defence personnel, with Moscow and Minsk emphasising their commitment to continued cooperation with Tehran. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky has blamed Iran for stalled weapon supplies as Russia continues to attack Ukraine.
