Marvin Humes' Son's Emotional Reaction to Dad's Masked Singer Reveal

JLS star and radio host Marvin Humes has shared the heartwarming story of his youngest son's emotional response to discovering his father's secret identity on The Masked Singer. The 40-year-old performer, who was unmasked as Can of Worms during Saturday night's semi-final of the ITV singing competition, revealed that his five-year-old son Blake was so overwhelmed by the reveal that he insisted his teacher be sent the video footage.

"I Need to Tell My Teacher"

Speaking to ITV's Good Morning Britain, Humes recounted how Blake became "so emotional" after watching the dramatic unmasking. "I had to send his teacher last night, the video of me being on The Masked Singer," Humes explained. "He must have told all his friends today that daddy is Can of Worms."

The proud father went on to describe how he had to pause the show to allow his young son to process the revelation. "(Blake) was so emotional. I think he was just so overwhelmed. I had to pause the show just for him to sort of let it out."

Family Reactions Captured on Video

On Sunday night, Humes shared a video with his nearly one million Instagram followers that captured the moment his youngest children, Blake and Valentina, discovered his secret. In the footage, the JLS singer and his wife, presenter Rochelle Humes, watched as their five-year-old son screamed, ran around the room, and eventually broke down in tears of excitement.

At the conclusion of the recording, Blake made his now-famous declaration: "I need to tell my teacher my dad was on The Masked Singer." Humes noted that his youngest children had "absolutely no idea" he was participating in the show, making the reveal "a really special moment" for the family.

Contrasting Reactions Within the Family

In a humorous contrast to his younger siblings' complete surprise, Humes revealed that his eldest daughter, Alaia, had figured out his secret through detective work worthy of the show itself. The sharp-eyed child tracked her father's whereabouts using a location-sharing app and noticed he was spending time at ITV's Bovingdon studios.

"She saw that I was at ITV's Bovingdon studios, and she said, 'Daddy, why are you there?' I said, 'I'm filming with JLS'," Humes recounted. However, Alaia's suspicions were confirmed when she made the connection between the studio location and The Masked Singer filming schedule.

"On day three, when I came home, she said, 'Daddy, they film The Masked Singer at Bovingdon studios'. So, obviously, I had to tell her. I said, don't tell your brother and sister – so she kept it a secret," Humes explained, praising his daughter's discretion.

Background on the Humes Family

Marvin Humes rose to fame after finishing in second place on ITV's The X Factor in 2008 as part of the boyband JLS. The group, consisting of Humes, Oritse Williams, Aston Merrygold and JB Gill, achieved significant success with hits including "Everybody In Love" and "Beat Again," earning two Brit awards and five UK number one singles.

Humes married television presenter Rochelle Humes in 2012, and the couple now have three children together. The family's reaction to Marvin's Masked Singer participation highlights the personal side of celebrity life that often remains hidden behind the elaborate costumes and dramatic reveals of reality television competitions.
