Leading actress nominee Rose Byrne made a dazzling arrival at the EE BAFTA Film Awards 2026, held at The Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday. The 46-year-old star, nominated for her film If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, looked incredible on the red carpet, accompanied by her handsome partner Bobby Cannavale.

Byrne turned heads in a yellow and silver bejewelled gown with strap detailing, accessorised with statement earrings. By her side, Bobby Cannavale, 55, looked dapper in a black suit and smart bow tie, supporting his long-term partner. The couple, who have been in a relationship since 2012, have two sons, born in February 2016 and November 2017.

Star-Studded Ceremony and Performances

Hosted by Alan Cumming, this year's ceremony welcomed a host of stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet, Jacob Elordi, and Michael B. Jordan, honouring the year's biggest cinema releases. The Royal Festival Hall stage also featured appearances from Kerry Washington, Minnie Driver, Monica Bellucci, Patrick Dempsey, and Regé-Jean Page, among others.

Entertainment and Special Awards

Entertainment on the night came from a diverse spectrum of performers. This included a first performance outside the United States of the record-breaking track Golden from KPop Demon Hunters, sung by JAE, AUDREYNUNA & REI AMI, the voices of HUNTR/X. Meanwhile, British singer Jessie Ware performed a Barbara Streisand cover in a moving tribute during the In Memoriam segment.

This year's Special Award recipients included Dame Donna Langley, honoured with the BAFTA Fellowship, the arts charity's highest accolade. The British Chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment was celebrated for her prolific career and as one of the most influential figures in the entertainment industry. Additionally, Clare Binns, Creative Director of Picture House Cinemas, received the BAFTA Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema award, recognising her role in championing diverse and independent work on big screens across the UK.

Film Nominations and Records

One Battle After Another led the nominations with fourteen nods, including Best Film, but faced stiff competition from supernatural horror Sinners with thirteen nominations and Hamnet with eleven. Hamnet, director Chloé Zhao's moving drama about the death of Shakespeare's only son, adapted from Maggie O'Farrell's award-winning novel, broke the record for the most nominations for a female-directed film in BAFTA history.

Irish star Jessie Buckley earned a lead role nomination for Hamnet, having already scored a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award, with nominations for the Academy Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Co-star Paul Mescal, snubbed during Oscar nominations, received a Supporting Actor BAFTA nod.

Other notable nominations included Marty Supreme and Timothée Chalamet with eleven BAFTA nods, Frankenstein and Sentimental Value with eight each, and five nominations for I Swear and Bugonia. Rose Byrne vied for the Leading Actress BAFTA against Kate Hudson, Chase Infiniti, Renate Reinsve, and Emma Stone.
