Sam Thompson's Valentine's Day Plans Unveiled After Ski Trip Cancellation

Sam Thompson has publicly shared his Valentine's Day intentions with girlfriend Talitha Balinska, following the disappointment of a cancelled romantic ski trip. The former Made In Chelsea star, aged 33, began dating the model in September 2024 after his separation from Zara McDermott.

Romantic Gestures and Home-Cooked Dinner

During the latest episode of his podcast Staying Relevant on Monday, Sam opened up to best friend Pete Wicks about his nervousness ahead of his first Valentine's Day with Talitha. He outlined a low-key vision for the day, emphasising thoughtful gestures over extravagant presents.

"I don't really want to do presents if I'm honest," Sam declared. "I just feel like Valentine's shouldn't be about that. I think roses, not excessive because it becomes a bit tacky, but I think a nice amount."

He specified a preference for two dozen roses, mixing red and white varieties, though Pete quickly noted that white roses symbolise purity and innocence rather than the passion typically associated with Valentine's Day.

Detailed Plans for the Evening

Sam elaborated on his evening plans, seeking advice from Pete on cooking dinner. "In my head Pete I'm thinking roses, dinner, round mine. I'm going to cook something like a bit out there, a bit avant garde. Maybe make a fondue," he explained.

He added further details about his intended approach:

  • Hand-delivering a carefully written card with the roses
  • Sharing a kiss and saying "See you tonight"
  • Playing background music during the evening
  • Serving Rioja wine, the only variety he knows
  • Cooking dinner while Talitha keeps him company in the kitchen

"I don't want to overdo it," Sam emphasised, revealing his anxiety about getting the celebration right. "It's just a scary time mate. I feel like as a boyfriend you sit there and think 'What if I get it all wrong'. I don't want to f*** it up, especially first Valentine's Day."

Ski Trip Dreams Dashed by Work Commitments

These Valentine's plans come after Sam's original intention to whisk Talitha away on a romantic skiing holiday fell through. When Pete asked about the trip, Sam sheepishly admitted: "Didn't go. I just physically couldn't go. It was a pipe dream which got stomped out pretty quickly by agents and work."

He revealed he hadn't told Talitha about the planned trip, describing it as "a pipe dream that started and ended in this studio."

Recent Relationship Milestones

Last month, Sam took their romance to the next level by confessing he had told Talitha he loved her for the first time. He described the "awkward" moment on his podcast, explaining how he gradually progressed from saying "I like you" to "I like you a lot" before finally expressing his love while they sat together on the sofa.

"I think I love you," Sam recalled saying, followed by Talitha's response: "I love you too." He described how they then sat in silence watching television before bursting into laughter, noting "that's why I love her we are both quite awkward people."

Since that declaration, Sam admitted he "can't stop" telling Talitha he loves her. The couple, who confirmed their relationship publicly in early December, have been enjoying date nights with friends including Pete, Sam's sister Louise, and her fiancé Ryan Libbey.

Despite a difficult start to 2025 following his split from Zara McDermott, Sam has ended the year on a high note thanks to his new romance, a sold-out show at London's O2 Arena, and significant charity achievements.
