Trump Claims US Never Needed NATO's Help in Iran War After Rejection
Trump: US Never Needed NATO's Help in Iran War

President Donald Trump has launched a vehement declaration that the United States does not require, and never did require, NATO's assistance in the ongoing war against Iran. This statement follows the rejection of his requests for allied support in securing the critical Strait of Hormuz.

Trump's Truth Social Rant Against NATO Allies

In a lengthy post on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump expressed his frustration with NATO members. He wrote, "The United States has been informed by most of our NATO 'Allies' that they don't want to get involved with our Military Operation against the Terrorist Regime of Iran, in the Middle East." Trump emphasized that many countries had previously agreed with the US stance on preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

Criticism of NATO as a 'One Way Street'

Trump criticized NATO, describing it as a "one way street" where the US spends hundreds of billions annually to protect allies, but receives no support in return during times of need. He stated, "I always considered NATO, where we spend Hundreds of Billions of Dollars per year protecting these same Countries, to be a one way street — We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us."

Claims of Military Success Against Iran

The former president boasted about the US military's achievements in the conflict, asserting that Iran's capabilities have been severely degraded. He claimed, "Fortunately, we have decimated Iran's Military — Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti-Aircraft and Radar is gone and perhaps, most importantly, their Leaders, at virtually every level, are gone." Trump added that this success means the US no longer needs or desires assistance from NATO countries, Japan, Australia, or South Korea.

Resignation of Counterterrorism Chief

Trump's post coincided with the resignation of his head counterterrorism chief, who stepped down over the war with Iran. This official became the first and most senior member of Trump's administration to resign, citing that Tehran posed no imminent threat to the United States. This development adds a layer of internal dissent to the ongoing geopolitical tensions.

Trump's Final Assertion of Independence

In a concluding remark, Trump reinforced his position of American self-reliance. He declared, "Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer 'need,' or desire, the NATO Countries' assistance — WE NEVER DID!" He further asserted, "Speaking as President of the United States of America, by far the Most Powerful Country Anywhere in the World, WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE!"

This outburst highlights the escalating rhetoric and strained relations between the US and its traditional allies, as the conflict in the Middle East continues to unfold.
