The devastating incident occurred on Friday night at the family home, where emergency services pronounced Jamie-Lea dead at the scene after responding to a distress call.
A Father's Heartbreaking Plea to Police
Jack Biscoe, the 37-year-old father of the victim, made a poignant five-word plea to police officers upon their arrival at the property. Recalling the moment in an emotional interview with The Sun, Jack stated he told officers: "Please just put her down." He elaborated on his desperate request, explaining, "I don’t want to see her ever again… I just don't think that dog should live anymore."
The Tragic Discovery and Immediate Aftermath
Jack described returning home to find his daughter on the bedroom floor with a severe bite wound to her neck. The family dog involved in the attack was identified as Shy, a female blue-merle Lurcher-cross described by Jack as previously having no history of aggression. Remarkably, he characterized Shy as the "softest dog" who had been his "daughter's best friend and she still killed her."
Essex Police seized Shy along with two other dogs from the home, reported to be Shy's puppies who were downstairs during the incident. While the puppies were not involved in the attack, Jack expressed concerns about their future, stating, "Even though the youngsters didn’t do anything, they've seen too much and I don’t think they could ever be placed with a family again…" Police confirmed on Sunday that tests are being conducted to verify the breed of the dog involved.
