An abusive husband whose wife jumped off a bridge to her death has launched an appeal against his conviction. Lee Milne, 40, was found guilty of culpable homicide in a landmark Scottish case after his 28-year-old wife Kimberly Milne died on July 27, 2023, on the A90 in Dundee. She had been subjected to 18 months of abuse, including choking, hair-pulling, and verbal assaults.
Appeal Launched
Milne has instructed lawyers to challenge the verdict, and the Appeal Court in Edinburgh confirmed an 'intention to appeal' has been lodged. He was sentenced to eight years in prison earlier this month, with an extended 11-year sentence including supervision.
Trial Details
During the trial, prosecutors presented harrowing CCTV footage showing Milne berating his wife shortly before her death. Kimberly was seen cowering, clutching her head, and hiding behind a wall. At one point, Milne drove his vehicle directly at her, skidding inches away. The couple later walked onto a flyover bridge, where Kimberly climbed the barrier and jumped.
Jurors found Milne guilty despite her having jumped, marking the first such conviction in Scotland. He was also found guilty of a separate domestic abuse charge involving multiple properties in Dundee.
Judge's Remarks
Lady Drummond stated: 'You had split from Kimberley Milne and you knew that day she was in distress. Your response included driving erratically, shouting, and throwing an item at her. She reached a point of despair where she climbed a barrier and fell to her death. You bear responsibility for her death.'
Previous Offences
After the trial, it emerged Milne had also been found guilty of groping two young boys in Angus in 2024.
