Andrew's Arrest Body Language Reveals 'Fearful' Yet Controlling Demeanour

As Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was photographed leaving a Norfolk police station after eleven hours in custody, body language expert Judi James has analysed his 'fearful' expression and subtle gestures that suggest he is 'clinging to status and control'. The former prince was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on his sixty-sixth birthday, with police conducting searches at Sandringham and the Royal Lodge in Windsor.

Photograph Captures Andrew's Return to Sandringham

After being detained by police on Thursday morning, Andrew was released under investigation in the evening. A photograph taken as he was driven away from Aylsham Police Station in Norfolk shows him slouching in the car to avoid the press, but it has since circulated globally. Judi James, a renowned body language analyst, has decoded this image, revealing dual narratives of fear and a desire for authority.

Judi James explained: "There are two body language narratives coming from this. The most powerful is from the facial expression. Those rounded eyes and raised brows and that partial peeking of the teeth from between parted lips all suggest 'rabbit caught in the headlights' levels of shock, fear and anxiety. The one 'red eye' caught in the flash only adds to the eerie impression of a man caught unawares, blankly trying to process the day's events."

Subtle Gestures Indicate Clinging to Control

Despite the evident anxiety, James notes that Andrew's body language in the car suggests an attempt to maintain some semblance of authority. "The other narrative comes from Andrew's body and his hand gesture though," she elaborated. "Reclining to hide is not the same as ducking forward and curling into a ball and Andrew has chosen to recline here. His hands are held in a partial steeple with the fingers loosely interlocked."

This gesture, typically used as a power pose, indicates authority and status. James added: "So although the shock does appear to be obvious from his face here we maybe shouldn't underestimate Andrew's desire to still cling on to the notion of status and being in control."

Arrest Details and Royal Response

Andrew was arrested following allegations that he shared reports of official visits to Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Singapore with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as a UK trade envoy. Thames Valley Police confirmed his release under investigation, stating that searches in Norfolk had concluded.

In response, King Charles issued a statement expressing his "deepest concern" and emphasising that "the law must take its course." He said: "I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities."

The King concluded by affirming support for the investigation, signing off as "Charles R." This arrest comes amid ongoing scrutiny from millions of files released by the US Department of Justice related to the Epstein scandal, which allege Andrew forwarded information to the convicted sex offender.
