A man accused of shooting five people, killing two, in consecutive shootings at a shopping center and an apartment building in suburban Dallas has been charged with two counts of capital murder, police confirmed Wednesday.
Charges Filed
Seung Ho Han, 69, also faces three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following Tuesday's incidents in the Koreatown neighborhood of Carrollton, Texas. Police stated that Han admitted to being the shooter during an interview with detectives, citing anger over financial disagreements related to business dealings. The victims' names have not been released, and the investigation into the motive continues.
Details of the Shootings
The first shooting occurred shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday at a shopping center. Officers arriving at the scene discovered four adults with gunshot wounds, including one man who was pronounced dead. While investigating that scene, a second shooting was reported at an apartment complex approximately 4 miles (6 kilometers) away. There, police found another deceased man inside an apartment. The three injured individuals are in stable condition at local hospitals.
Arrest and Background
Investigators determined that Han was responsible for both shootings. He was apprehended at a nearby grocery store following a brief foot chase. Han is currently being held at Denton County Jail; jail records do not list an attorney for him. Carrollton, a city of about 130,000 residents located 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of Dallas, has a Korean-American population exceeding 4,000, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.
