The mother of accused killer cop Beau Lamarre-Condon has been charged with perverting the course of justice ahead of her son's murder trial. Coleen Lamarre was arrested at her Balmain home in Sydney’s inner-west at approximately 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday and was refused bail. She is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Police Statement on the Charges
Homicide Squad detectives have charged a woman with allegedly attempting to influence a key witness to change their evidence in a high-profile double murder trial. According to a police statement, the 63-year-old was taken to Day Street Police Station, where she was charged with committing an act intending to pervert the course of justice. She was refused bail and will appear in the Bail Division Local Court 7 tomorrow.
Background of the Murder Case
Beau Lamarre-Condon has pleaded not guilty to murdering his ex-boyfriend, television presenter Jesse Baird, aged 26, and Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies, aged 29. The alleged murders occurred at Paddington in Sydney's eastern suburbs in February 2024. Lamarre-Condon is accused of placing the bodies of Mr. Davies and Mr. Baird into surfboard bags and disposing of them approximately 180 kilometers southwest of Sydney.
Police discovered the remains of Mr. Davies and Mr. Baird in the NSW Southern Tablelands eight days after Lamarre-Condon allegedly shot them dead with his Glock service pistol. A day before the bodies were found, Deputy Commissioner Dave Hudson revealed an alleged timeline of events. Gunshots were reported from Mr. Baird's rented terrace house on the morning of February 19. Later that evening, Lamarre-Condon allegedly hired a Toyota HiAce van from Sydney Airport. On February 21, he drove the vehicle to a property near the small town of Bungonia with a female companion. He allegedly left the property at around 4:30 a.m. and drove to Newcastle, where he asked a former policewoman if he could borrow a hose to clean the van. Neither woman is accused of any wrongdoing, and the former police officer contacted police after becoming suspicious.
On February 23, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Lamarre-Condon walked into Bondi Police Station and was arrested. The bodies of Mr. Davies and Mr. Baird were found at Bungonia on February 27, several hours after detectives spoke with Lamarre-Condon at the Metropolitan Remand and Reception Centre in Silverwater.
Lamarre-Condon's Background and Additional Charges
Lamarre-Condon has spent the last year and a half in custody over the shootings, which were allegedly the result of a months-long campaign of predatory behaviour targeting Mr. Baird. Lamarre-Condon, a former celebrity chaser, reportedly had a brief relationship with Mr. Baird before the Studio Ten and Totally Wild presenter began a relationship with Mr. Davies just weeks before their deaths. Lamarre-Condon was sacked from the police force in March last year and is also charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence. Before becoming a police officer, he ran a celebrity blog and posed in photos with numerous visiting celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles, and Katy Perry.
