Nick Reiner's 2017 confession: $200 stolen from parents for prostitute before murder arrest
Nick Reiner confessed to stealing $200 for prostitute before murder arrest

The son of legendary Hollywood director Rob Reiner, arrested for the alleged murder of his parents, had previously confessed to stealing money from them as a teenager to pay for a prostitute. Nick Reiner, 32, made the jarring admission during a 2017 podcast interview, years before he was taken into custody following the grim discovery of his parents' bodies in their Los Angeles mansion.

A Disturbing Podcast Confession Resurfaces

In a resurfaced episode of the 'Dopey' podcast from 2017, Nick Reiner detailed how, as a 14-year-old, he used $200 stolen from his parents to arrange an encounter with a sex worker. He explained that someone at an outpatient rehab facility had told him he could find sex workers online. While watching cartoons, he browsed Craigslist, found a profile with just a photo of a woman's buttocks and a number, and made the call.

"I got $200 from my parents," Reiner told hosts David Manheim and the late Chris O'Connor. He knew where they kept their money and took it around 1 a.m. without their knowledge. "I didn't say, 'Hey, look, I'm going to be with a hooker tonight, do you have an extra $200?'" he added.

The Fated Night and a Grisly Discovery

After securing the cash, the woman came to his house. Nick described the experience as brief and with a woman he did not find attractive, but said he thought it was "awesome" at the time, despite later feeling remorse. He was also "extremely blazed" from a marijuana edible. He never learned her name but later referred to her as "Cherry Red."

This troubling insight into Nick's past emerged after he was arrested on Sunday night for the alleged murder of his parents, Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Reiner, 68. Their bodies were discovered in their bed inside their Brentwood mansion, a ritzy Los Angeles neighbourhood, by their daughter Romy, 28, who lives across the street.

Arrest and Aftermath

Nick Reiner, who lived in his parents' guest house, was arrested after checking into a motel near the Santa Monica pier. Police reportedly found a shower "full of blood" in his room, with blood on the bed and windows blacked out using bedsheets. The arrest followed a "very loud argument" between Nick and his father at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party the previous night, where witnesses said Nick was acting erratically.

He is currently held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in downtown LA. His first court hearing was delayed because he was not medically cleared to be transferred from jail. His lawyer is Alan Jackson.
