Trailblazing assistant NHL coach Jessica Campbell has released a statement following the announcement of her departure from the Seattle Kraken. Kraken general manager Jason Botterill confirmed on Thursday afternoon that Campbell would be leaving the team at the end of the season, as she wishes to explore other opportunities within the league.
General Manager's Statement
“We support her in this process,” Botterill wrote. “Jessica has been an important member of our coaching staff for the past four years, demonstrating deep knowledge and a unique ability to connect with and develop players. We respect her decision and believe strongly in her as a coach in this league.”
Campbell's Response
Campbell, who made history as the NHL’s first on-bench female assistant coach, shared her gratitude in a statement on her Instagram story: “Thankful for this city, organization and our fans. You mean so much to me.”
Career Milestone
Campbell was promoted to the Kraken's coaching staff from the American Hockey League’s Coachella Firebirds in 2024, marking a historic moment in the league.
