Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn is poised to become the parliamentary leader of the newly formed left-wing Your Party, following a significant internal election that concluded on Thursday. This development comes after a founding process that was marred by toxic internal rows and legal threats, casting a shadow over the party's establishment.
Election Results and Internal Dynamics
In the election results declared on Thursday, Corbyn's faction, known as 'The Many,' secured an impressive 14 out of the 24 positions on the party's central executive committee (CEC). This represents double the number of seats won by supporters of ex-Labour MP Zarah Sultana, who managed to secure seven positions. Sultana had previously boycotted the first day of the party's inaugural conference in November last year, highlighting the internal tensions.
The election saw a turnout of 61%, with 25,347 of Your Party's 40,985 verified members participating in the vote. This robust participation underscores the high stakes involved in shaping the party's future direction.

Last year, Your Party members voted to adopt a unique leadership structure, opting for a 24-strong central executive committee to guide the party for an initial period of 21 months, rather than appointing a single leader.
